Guests say

Karslake House is a charming and cozy cottage praised for its stunning natural surroundings and friendly local atmosphere. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. The property's historical character adds to its appeal, though some noted minor maintenance issues. The proximity to local attractions and the village pub enhances the stay.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only one mention of cobwebs and blocked appliances, suggesting these were isolated incidents.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to nature, local walks, and a friendly village pub, making it an ideal spot for exploring Exmoor and enjoying the countryside.

The majority of guests found the cottage comfortable, highlighting the cozy atmosphere, comfortable beds, and ample space. However, one guest mentioned dangerous stairs and a lack of hot water in the mornings.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and utility room. Some guests noted issues with water pressure, flickering lights, and a need for better maintenance in certain areas.

While guests were greeted with cream tea, which was a thoughtful touch, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are consistent or to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host.

On arrival we were incredibly pleased that there was lots of spare space, on the owner’s driveway, to park our two cars. We had a friendly welcome from the owner and shown inside the house, where there was a much-appreciated cream tea. The house is spacious but very cosy. The beds were extremely comfortable with lovely bedding and soft fluffy towels. With three loos, three showers, four washbasins and a bath available, queueing was never necessary! The kitchen & utility room were both well equipped. The inglenook fireplace in the living room was a splendid feature and we loved all the quirky details of this old house. My 90-year-old, visually impaired mother was able to get around with no problem. At home we use a key safe, to avoid carrying keys around and this would have been useful here. It would also have allowed the first back to get in, when we went our separate ways. Winsford village is very pretty with a good pub (incorporating a little shop), just down the road. It was very peaceful and at night when the skies cleared, amazing views of the stars. The beautiful valleys are teeming with pheasants and partridges, sometimes wandering in the road! Miles of spectacular moorland and the (free) Exmoor pony centre were just at the top of the lane, and we were fascinated when lots of animals were moved from the moors down to their winter pasture. The whole of Exmoor was stunningly beautiful with Autumn colour and gushing streams and rivers. There were many local walks and interesting places to visit nearby. As a four generational family, there was something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day.

A great week despite the rain! Good location and there was ample off road parking. Property was warm and cosy with a log fire and had everything you needed for a lovely holiday. The water presure in the shower was a little low but the water was nice and hot.
