This feels right. It is an old cottage, a bit dilapidated on the outside but comfortable inside. However the owners deserve 5 stars for being friendly and helpful. One day during a deluge the road became a river and the water was ankle deep outside the front door, effectively marooning us as we had not brought wellies. The owners, on seeing the situation brought sandbags and planks of wood so that we could escape and the lady even offered to walk our dog for us! A peaceful, pleasant stay.

Even after complaining and the owners attending to my complaint, the standard of cleanliness was poor. My family refused to stay in the accommodation and the owners have refused to refund. I would not recommend this cottage to anyone. If Sykes Cottages are happy to have this standard of property on their books even after being show photos of the filth then I won't risk this happening again with other properties! A clean property is a basic expectation on arrival.
