An attractive stone-built cottage, all on one level, in Catsgore just outside the charming town of Somerton. This property is ideal for a couple who love walking and exploring the beautiful countryside as it is situated right in the heart of the luscious landscape. There is a comfortable twin bedroom with lovely en-suite shower room for your convenience. As you go into the sitting room, you will be welcomed by a comfy reclining leather 3-seater sofa so why not get cosy and relax with the electric fire on to keep you warm? There is also a TV to keep you entertained or simply sit quietly and indulge in a favourite book.
The kitchen has a dining area, should you choose to eat at home and throughout the property there are quaint furnishings to make you feel right at home. This humble accommodation is detached from the Owner’s house next door, with an undercover timber garage to park your car and outside is a gravelled patio area with chairs and table to sit out and enjoy an evening meal in the peaceful surroundings. There are wonderful views from the property of the garden and the pond and the owners paddock where you can see ducks and geese as well as further afield catching a glimpse of deer.
There are a variety of places of interest nearby including: Royal Fleet Air Arm Museum, National Trust Sourhead Gardens, Glastonbury and Clark’s Outlet Village, not to mention some glorious countryside walking routes. Somerton is a beautiful destination with old town charm and many historical buildings to see. Once you've had time to explore, head to one of the delightful tearooms or cafes to take the weight off your feet. Trout Cottage is in an extremely pleasant, countryside location, yet within walking distance of Somerton with 3 pubs, an excellent bistro and some shops. Plenty to see and do for a couple looking to get away for a while.
The market town of Somerton, once the ancient capital of Wessex is just south of Glastonbury. The town centre offers visitors an array of local shops, banks, pubs and restaurants. Somerton provides a perfect base from which to explore Somerset, with the surrounding countryside, villages and country lanes with footpaths, ideal for walkers and cyclists. Glastonbury, Clarkes shopping village at Street, Wells Cathedral, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge are all within an easy drive.

Well equipped ,comfortable and warm which was important for our stay during a cold February. Welcoming , helpful, friendly owner who lives nearby is not at all intrusive but readily available if needed . We strongly recommend this property for stays in this beautiful county and are looking forward to a return visit later in the year .

Warm and cosy for a winter stay with all the amenities we needed. Paddock ideal for our dog and back garden a haven for birds , we enjoyed watching the daily visit by the woodpecker. Nicely situated to enjoy the lovely countryside of Somerset and its towns ,villages and historic sights. Very highly recommended.

Old Goat Cottage exceeded our expectations. From the welcome and goodies from Sue on our arrival, the peace, tranquility, peace throughout our stay, to the bag of cooking apples Sue let me pick from her tree on our day of leaving, the whole experience was fantastic. The cottage is a great location, with 25 minutes drive from 4 national trust sites and also RNAS Yeovilton ( great visit). Just over a mile outside Sommerton, which has everything you need from chemist, chippy, co-op & bakers, but also just a 20 minute drive from fleet if you want larger stores. Fantastic owner, fantastic place. Will return to de-stress again in the future. Highly recommend.
