This former hay barn is located on the edge of Knole, a tranquil and picturesque hamlet within a conservation area.
The cottage is equidistant from the north Somerset coast, with sandy beaches, and the beautiful Dorset coast, with its Jurassic coastline and pretty bays. The Fleet Air Arm Museum and Clark’s Village (with its major brand outlets) are nearby, as are the abbey towns of Sherborne with its two castles along with Glastonbury. Wells has a truly beautiful Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace with delightful garden. Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge and Longleat are a little further away, but well worth a visit. Swimming, tennis, golf (1 mile) and excellent fishing (trout and coarse) are within easy reach, alongside excellent local walks and country pubs. Needless to say, there’s something to suit all tastes, with visits to the numerous National Trust properties being recommended, and located close by to all there is to offer, making The Old Haybarn the ideal holiday base for your getaway.

The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable, (we prefer a slightly softer mattress). It is well placed to visit both the north and south coasts and there is a wide variety of places to visit and things to do in the area for families or couples. Our host was vey friendly and welcoming.

The cottage was so relaxing and had everything we needed to cook our evening meals including a Barbecue. We had plenty of room for a family of 4. It was like home from home. The beds were so comfortable and the place was so quiet, I slept the best I have in a long time. The cottage is based in a great spot to reach the north beaches as well as the south beaches in Dorset with them both only taking an hour each way. We also visited some other places which was closer Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge and Wells which I would really recommend. Clarks village was a really lovely place to visit for shops and the place also has a lovely outdoor heated pool which my kids loved. We would defiantly recommend this place and I would love to return again.

We loved this accommodation. Nestled in a quiet hamlet ,with plenty outside space . We were there during a heatwave week , when temperatures climbed from 25-33°c, so we went exploring in the mornings ,and spent the afternoons & evenings relaxing outside , listening to the swallows as they flew around the hamlet . The Old Haybarn is very comfortable, and unlike many places we have stayed ,it has a full-size fridge-freezer and excellent shower . The stairs are steep though , so not suitable for everyone. We loved using the barbecue, and the garden furniture, including loungers. LOTS of great places to see in the area.The owners live next door ,and are absolutely lovely. We would definitely return to the property in the future .
