The owners had thought of everything to make our holiday special. The lodge is fully equipped and comfortable. The garden is beautiful. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and there was a wonderful basket of goodies and homemade cake. The information pack to give ideas of places to visit was useful. For dog owners there are plenty of walks from the cottage. The farm shop opposite is friendly, fully stocked and has a coffee shop. The local pub is only open a couple of evenings, but just up the road is the village Hazelbury Plunkett with a brilliant pub doing delicious food, dog walkers could leave the car behind. and use the helpful instructions left in the cottage to walk there, as the pub is dog friendly. A recommendation is to spend a day a little further afield on Portland at the Tout Quarry sculpture park and then the D Day Centre. This WW2 museum is dog friendly, very helpful volunteers who encourage you to interact with the artefacts, so you can sit in the vehicles and handle weapons. The Lodge is well located to get to beaches and towns like Sherborne and Dorchester. They both have good markets. We had a fantastic week at The Lodge.

This is a wondefull cottage, the ambience, comfort and all the equipment you could need. The welcom tray was amazing, we really enjoyed the eggs, boiled and poached. A short drive to Forde Abbey and Gardens also the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum. A big thanks to Gordon and Judith.

Beautiful cottage in a quaint location. The gardens were an amazing surprise as I dont think the website fully sells the extent and beauty of them. The bbq area is a lovely location to spend an evening. Gordon and Judith were most welcoming and everything you could ever need was available in the lodge. The location is ideally located on the Somerset Dorset border and there are some great walks, villages and food restaurants on your doorstep to explore. The local pub appears to be only open on Wednesdays and Fridays but we enjoyed a great table quiz here on one of the nights. The local farm shop is well stocked and very friendly.
