Shephard's Retreat, a stylish and well-thought-out first floor, architect-designed, eaves apartment situated in a conservation area within the grounds of the owner's delightful 17th century thatched cottage, in the charming Somerset village of Charlton Mackrell. With views over the owner's carefully-tended gardens and a little village lane, this attractive apartment has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped with everything you need for self-catering experience! There's character sloping ceilings but ample headroom for taller guests, a super well-equipped kitchen area, with an adjacent breakfast bar, as well as dining and sitting areas, all attractively decorated and imaginatively set out, together with a plush bedroom with a king-size double bed and a super shower. A really lovely base to return to after your adventurous days out! Outside, you can enjoy sipping a glass of your favourite tipple on your private patio or stroll around the owner's much admired gardens. There's lots to see and do within an easy drive of your Charlton Mackrell holiday base, from the nearby lovely walled gardens of Lytes Cary, exploring the pretty town of Somerton, once the ancient capital of Wessex, to ancient Glastonbury and beautiful Montacute House and gardens. A hidden gem of a holiday property in a delightful village, Shephard's Retreat is a perfect base for a fascinating Somerset holiday!

The delightful, historic Somerset market town of Somerton, once the ancient capital of Wessex, borders the scenic Somerset Levels, just south of Glastonbury. The attractive town centre offers visitors an array of local shops, banks, pubs and restaurants. Somerton provides a perfect base from which to explore lovely Somerset, with the surrounding countryside teeming with pretty villages and quiet country lanes, ideal for walkers and cyclists.
