About this property

This luxury lodge, which is one of four identical houses, is nestled in open countryside, with idyllic views of the Somerset hills and Glastonbury Tor. Starling Lodge, located a mile outside of Wedmore village, is a peaceful retreat for families and couples wishing to enjoy Somerset's natural beauty. The open-plan living space, which includes a fully equipped kitchen and bi-folding doors that bring the outdoors in, is sure to be social hub of the home. Pop open a bottle of fizz and serve a home-cooked dish at the dining table or take the evening outdoors to the patio furniture, where you may enjoy alfresco dining amidst the glorious Somerset levels. After a long day, relax on the plush sofa and catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV, or relax in the hot tub whilst you ponder where to visit next. This rural retreat has three wonderful bedrooms: an upstairs king-size room with an en-suite, and a downstairs king-size and children's bunk bedroom that share a fully equipped wet room. Visit Percy, Albert, and Jeffrey the alpacas, as well as Minnie and Dottie the miniature ponies, on the other side of the garden fence. You'll enjoy excellent walks or cycle rides in the immediate vicinity, which are set in a rural setting with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Take a beautiful journey up to the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, where cathedral-like caves house 9000 years of human history, or ramble through the Somerset lowlands, Mendip Hills, and Polden Hills. Puxton Adventure Park, Longleat Safari Park, Brean Leisure Park, and Brean Water Park are all recommended for family days out, or while you're there, try your hand at Cheddar Crazy Golf and visit The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company for a cheese keepsake from the birthplace of Cheddar! Birdwatchers should visit Westhay and Shapwick Heath nature areas, while cultural heritage can be found at Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Abbey. Clarks Village is close by for anyone searching for a designer bargain, and a trip to Somerset wouldn't be complete without a stop at Thatchers Cider, which has a restaurant and shop, or Wilkins Cider Farm, which is more rural. Taunton, Bath, and Bristol are all within an hour's drive of each other, making them ideal for day visits. However you choose to spend your time, Starling Lodge is a wonderful retreat, whatever time of year. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1100431, sleeping 12 people together.

Wedmore is a delightful Somerset community nestled between the magnificent Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills, a few miles south of Cheddar and a short drive from the mediaeval cathedral cities of Wells and Glastonbury. The village has a nice selection of local stores and pubs that provide decent food, real ale, and Somerset ciders. With the numerous bird species that breed in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wedmore and the surrounding area are a sanctuary for walkers and birdwatchers. Cyclists will enjoy the scenic terrain that crosses the Levels, while culture enthusiasts can enjoy Wells, the country's smallest city, with its stunning cathedral. Visit Glastonbury, the historic town famous for its yearly music festival and links to all things mystical, while Cheddar, with its spectacular gorge and fascinating caves, makes for a great day trip. The gorgeous Somerset shore and Exmoor National Park, on the other hand, are also conveniently accessible, giving you plenty of options for how to spend your getaway!

It was exactly how it was described and looked exactly how the listing was. We were so amazed at how big the lodge is and how much space there was. The amazing views from the lodge are amazing and it's lovely to be able to enjoy the scenery and peacefulness. We managed to stay busy every day. It was lovely to be able to relax in the hot tub on the night time and watch the sunset and stars when it had gone dark. Will definitely be returning again and will highly recommend. Jo is amazing and very helpful and friendly. Was lovely to meet the animals that are on the farm.
