Shepton Mallet 3 miles. This substantial detached timber lodge, in the grounds of the owner's livestock farm in the Mendip Hills, is situated near to the market town of Shepton Mallet in Somerset. The lodge makes a perfect peaceful base for families or friends wanting to explore the picturesque Mendip Hills. Set in a beautiful, quiet position overlooking a lake, the tastefully furnished interior provides a roomy, open plan living area, accentuated by the high ceilings and large windows which frame superb views. The lodge offers two generous bedrooms and a spacious shower room, together with a large, open plan living area with dining area and a hand-built kitchen from locally-sourced oak, with black granite worktops. Outside, the extensive timber-decked veranda is a great place to enjoy an alfresco meal whilst taking in the views across the carp lake toward the distant hills. You can also watch the ducks and geese on the lake. A short drive from the lodge is the renowned Royal Bath and West Showground, which has regular events throughout the year, including flea markets and antique fairs and not forgetting the annual agricultural show. Also, short drives away are Wells, Englands smallest city and home to the magnificent cathedral and Bishops Palace, Glastonbury, home to the Abbey and Tor, Cheddar Gorge and the cities of Bristol and Bath. The historic town of Shepton Mallet is a delightful mixture of old and new, with some wonderful old architecture and a weekly market, plus a variety of shops, pubs and eateries. Shepton Mallet is set in the Mendip foothills, and is at the geographical heart of the Mendip District.

Minimal equipment :- no egg cups. Also owner away for all the time we were there. No one about for help

Great base to explore East Somerset. Daily visits from the ducks and geese was a pleasure. Beautiful views on a clear day. Sofas a little low to sit on for a long period but everything else was just perfect

!. A good nights sleep is guaranteed as the king size bed is so comfy & it is so quiet here. A good location for exploring the unspoilt county of Somerset.
