The Coach House in Hawling is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its beautiful Cotswold village location, comfortable and cosy rooms, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the tranquil setting, picturesque scenery, and thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper. Some concerns were raised about internet reliability and maintenance issues, but overall, guests recommend the property and express a desire to return.
Most guests found the Coach House clean and tidy, with a few noting it could be cleaner. The property was generally well-maintained, though some minor cleanliness issues were mentioned, such as dirty kitchen counters and sofas.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and picturesque setting in a Cotswold village. Guests enjoyed the rural setting and proximity to other villages, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.
The property is described as comfortable and cosy, with comfy beds and a lovely fire. However, some guests mentioned issues with shower temperature control and bed sizes, slightly affecting the comfort score.
The Coach House is well-appointed with a great kitchen and outside seating area. However, several guests experienced issues with internet connectivity, temperamental showers, and a lack of clear instructions for appliances, which impacts the facilities score.
Guests were delighted by thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper, logs for the fire, and fresh towels. While these gifts are appreciated, it's important to note that such amenities are subject to availability and not guaranteed.
The idyllic setting of the Coach House is very special, nestled in the grounds of the Grade II listed, 16th century Old Rectory, within the unspoilt village of Hawling, with stunning views from the highest point of the Cotswolds. With three bedrooms, Coach House is a perfect choice for family gatherings, or for friends exploring the charms of the Cotswolds.
This charming, detached, former coach house dates back to the 14th century and has been sympathetically renovated, ensuring original features can still be enjoyed, including exposed beams, a stone fireplace and external barn doors.
The sociable living accommodation includes a spacious dining kitchen with french doors out to the terrace and garden, and leads up a couple of steps to the inviting sitting room with its cosy open fire. A small double bedroom is also located on the ground floor, along with a shower room and separate cloakroom/WC. Upstairs, a king-size bedroom and a pretty twin room have use of the family bathroom. Breath-taking views over meadows to distant fields below can be enjoyed from the house and gardens.
Outside, the terrace provides garden furniture for alfresco dining whilst enjoying views of the delightful, mature and generous surrounding gardens and fields. The adjoining field has a soothing pond, perfect for picnics or quiet contemplation. Within the gardens are various spots to sit and enjoy the planting and terraced trees, and a sculptured sphere adds to sense of grandeur; or escape to the fun shepherd's hut with a good book and a glass of wine.
It would be very easy to stay put within the grounds of this glorious Cotswold retreat, but further delights await nearby. A short drive away you will find the picturesque village of Guiting Power, which boasts a village shop, bakery and two village pubs. Just under 7 miles away is family friendly Bourton-on-the-Water (known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'); and charming Stow-on-the-Wold and cosmopolitan Cheltenham are less than 10 miles away.
