Guests say

Tump Cottage is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its peaceful location, cosy atmosphere, and the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. The property is described as clean, comfortable, and equipped with necessary amenities, making it a delightful stay for both humans and pets. The surrounding area offers lovely walks and a friendly community, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Guests generally find the cottage clean, with only minor issues such as the need for mould cleaning in the bathroom and washing of some utensils. These appear to be isolated incidents and do not detract significantly from the overall experience.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, beautiful walks, and proximity to local attractions. The presence of free-roaming chickens and the requirement for dogs to be on leads are noted, but these do not seem to negatively impact the overall sentiment.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a few suggestions for updating lounge furniture and providing more comfortable outdoor seating. The bed is noted as relatively comfortable, contributing to a restful stay.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property being well-equipped for guests' needs. However, there are mentions of items needing replacement or repair, and a suggestion to replace the microwave, indicating room for improvement in maintenance.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful extras provided, such as biscuits, crisps, and cereal. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, although delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

Mattress is very firm and pillows look fluffy and soft but weren’t. Left a day early due to being unable to sleep. Maybe too rural for us too with a lack of a local shop and also local pub closed too. Listing said 3 pubs within 3 miles but only 2 of them are open. Heating was difficult to control it was either too hot or too cold and then heat just rises (naturally) and makes the bed area too warm. Good of you want an extreme rural holiday get away with a dog and bringing own food/groceries but if relying on local shops etc is difficult.

The property had beer in an ideal rural location just as I wanted having 2 dogs and having access to many public foot paths and beautiful walks. The property is small but perfect and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

It was a last minute decision on the Thursday night, and booked for the following day. Lovely little village with lots of walks with the dog, over stiles and across fields. Did a 'mountain climb' in Uley, around Uley Bury iron age hill fort, which is only about 5 minutes drive away from Tump Cottage. Circular walk from Uley Church, and met quite a few hikers doing the same walk and a few just walking for leisure, like us. The Cottage was perfect, it had everything we needed, and we enjoyed the biscuits, crisps and cereal. We always take some of our own essentials (bread, milk etc) because you never know when you get to a place, whether the local shops will be open or whether you get there too late to get to a shop. The farm is lovely, chickens roaming around freely and doves in the barn. The lovely lady who does the day to day running of the cottages was really friendly and helpful and literally lives opposite, so no stress about trying to get hold of anyone if there were any problems. We would definitely recommend Tump Cottage.
