About this property

Standing in an elevated and private position on the outskirts of the small village of St Briavels, The Cottage enjoys tremendous panoramic views over the Wye Valley below.

Originally a small worker’s dwelling, the property benefits from the addition of a much larger, contemporary extension providing bright and spacious accommodation.

Guests will find a fantastic mix of the old and the new when they set foot inside the cottage. The original part of the cottage retains some period features, such as old stone fireplaces and narrow stairs, while the extension has been thoughtfully designed to provide a wonderful feeling of space and comfort.

Particularly impressive are the bi-fold doors along one whole wall of the living area bringing the outdoors in. Throw in the spectacular views when you are relaxing on the large patio with a glass or two in the evening and you’ll be left with a truly memorable holiday experience.

Accommodation within The Cottage is as follows; one ground floor double, one king size double with TV en suite shower, over bath, basin and WC, one double, one twin with en suite bathroom, basin and WC. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC, ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC.

St Briavels stands almost 800 feet above sea level overlooking the Wye Valley, and is only a 10 minute drive from The Forest of Dean. The village has an ancient moated Royal castle, a communal green, a playground, an art gallery and monthly farmers’ market. It’s history dates back to the 11th century and beyond – the Hudnall woods, one of King John’s favourite hunting grounds, are one of the few remaining unmanaged woods in the Country.

The Cottage is a brilliant, scenic property for a brilliant family getaway and with plenty of attractions not too far away, you will never be lost for something to do.

St Biavels has a friendly pub (The George Inn) and a moated Norman castle, which is open to the public-a great attraction for children. For a day’s exploring the cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester as well as the Cotswolds beyond, are well within reach. For a family day out Puzzle Wood and the Sculpture Trail are popular destinations in nearby Coleford.
