About this property

Delightfully situated on a working farm in the picturesque hamlet of Rodden, lies Chestnut Cottage, a charming and traditional cottage close to the stunning World Heritage Jurassic coastline and neighbouring countryside. This property was once an old stone barn and has been lovingly converted into a wonderfully spacious property sleeping up to nine guests and providing an ideal base for a large family or group of friends to discover all the wonders of Dorset in a quiet and peaceful setting, with pretty farmland surroundings. Step inside and be welcomed into the sitting room, with exposed beams and stonework, boasting a real cottage style feel, with the woodburning stove giving that extra charm and warmth on a chilly evening. Settle down on the comfortable sofas and plan your days ahead before carrying on the conversations in the kitchen diner, an open plan space sure to be the social hub of the property, whilst the head chef cooks up a delicious meal. The kitchen is well equipped to cater for all your culinary needs and the lawned garden and outdoor patio area is the perfect spot for some outside entertaining and alfresco dining in the warmer months. When it’s time to retire, take your pick from 5 bedrooms; on the first floor, one super king bed with an ensuite consisting of a bath with overhead shower, basin and wc, one king size bed, another twin bedroom and single room. The thriving and popular tourist town of Weymouth is just over 7 miles away and here you will find the award-winning blue flag beach with its sweeping sandy shores and a host of seaside attractions, and backed with an attractive Georgian esplanade lined with shops, cafes and bars. Enjoy a fun day out at the Nothe Fort, a unique attraction steeped in history with spectacular views out towards Portland, or explore the amazing underwater world at the Sea Life Adventure Park, home to penguins, sea turtle, sharks, seals and much more. Stop off at incredible landmarks such as Sandsfoot and Portland Castles, before continuing along the West Dorset Heritage Coast to Chesil Beach and Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and Swannery, follow the coast road to West Bay, fondly known as “The Gateway To The Dorset Jurassic Coast” and popularised by the TV series Broadchurch, lies close to the glorious sandstone cliffs of Golden Cap, at the western end of the dramatic pebbly Chesil Beach. Just a short drive from West Bay you can visit the attractive market town of Bridport, here you will find an interesting variety of shops, antiques stalls, restaurants and inns. We have older less able family members who really appreciated the level access and easy entry downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen was well equipped and fully catered for us all in terms of crockery, cutlery and equipment. Beautiful rural location. Would definitely recommend.

The property clean tidy comfortable. However i would suggest a BBQ in this place we couldn’t find it , and better sound system for modern devices. Thank you

The cottage was lovely and warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had plenty of room and everything we needed, the kitchen was very well equipped. The beds very comfortable and we enjoyed the log burner in the lounge particularly as the weather was so cold. A great place to stay and we hope to come back before not too long.
