This thriving area called Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated right at the very heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Now a popular destination with many restaurant’s café and bars making it a vibrant location where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked in the harbourside streets here you will find original Tudor harbour buildings estimated to have built 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible facts and artefacts, there is more to this seaside town than meets the eye. The harbour is home to the lifting bridge where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge into the town with it’s winding streets of boutique shops and onto the seafront Esplanade and beach. "Property felt like it wasn't very well furnished however. The en-suite shower leaked through the kitchen light which was very unsafe. Beds were rock hard, some had slats broken off of them and were very poor quality. My disabled mum could not get comfortable in her bed and quite often was painful because of how hard mattress was it had no give in it. No carpets meaning noises echoed throughout the whole place and not much storage space for clothes etc in rooms. For how expensive this property was it was a huge let down. Definitely not worth the cost. The location and the downstairs bedroom for my Mum were the only positives. It would really benefit from being refurbished."

"Great to have parking too. The House was very dusty everywhere. 5pm check in is later than most cottages and they certainly don't spend the time cleaning! Several bulbs were not working, TV remote in bedroom did not work and the batteries were rusted so been thatcway a long time! Also quite a bad leak on the toilet in the bathroom upstairs. Main downfalls were the blinds in the upstairs bedrooms where no better than net curtains. You can see through them from outside at night and you are woken up at daybreak with the light shining right on you in all three upstairs rooms. Finally there is no soundproofing in the entire building. You can hear a conversation in the living room from the bedroom and vice versa. The floors make such a noise it is impossible to move without disturbing the rest of the House.. Everything echos! Finally the adjacent building was having plumbing work carried out. Drills and hammering from 6.45am was a bit much the last two mornings of our stay. The House is in a great location, great to have parking, lovely little courtyard garden but no privacy at all. I wouldn't stay again. Bad blinds, terrible noise transfer between rooms and buildings. Our first stay in a dreams cottage but with have had many breaks with . Cleaning poorest we have encountered. Apart from changing beds I don't think they do anything!"

"My feed back then was good but I did mention that the oven was very poor and everything took much longer to cook than it should have done. This stay again the oven played up to the point we couldn't use it at all as it kept tripping the fuse box and it wouldn't work at all, so our meal planned on boxing day we couldn't cook.We were just relieved it didn't stop working on Christmas day as it could have ruined our day.The service we had in getting a small oven was fantastic and very helpful and quick, so we were all grateful for that.We did have a fantastic stay and would come back again"

"We enjoyed our stay very much. Our wonderful Hearing Dog Otis was able to enjoy the park and dog walking area on the beach. All of the equipment needed was provided and were of a good standard. I like a bath and suggest a hand rail to help avoid slips when getting in and out of the bath should be fitted."

"The noise issue with the apartment wasn’t a problem for us but it is a converted industrial building so won’t have been built to the same noise standards as a house so we didn’t have any issues with it. We loved the location and the apartment is very comfortable and we would definitely stay again."

"The property is very old and tired and in need of renovation. All the windows need to be replaced one window is broken and will not stay shut. There is no sound proofing between floors so it is a very noisy property also it looked as if a tile had come off the roof which needs to be fixed. In addition the front door does not feel very secure. This property was very expensive but it did not justify the price."

"Very well equipped and with comfortable beds and garden furniture. Sofas and arm chair look ok but springing seems worn so not as comfortable as they look. Steps inside and out not the easiest to negotiate. The worst thing for us was the parking. More information should be given about this BEFORE booking. Had I seen the info we received after we had paid before we did so I probably would not have booked. The spaces are incredibly tight. On one occasion during our stay a neighbour had to come and ask me to move my car (which was parked in accordance with instructions) so that she could get into hers. The only way I could get into my driving seat was by climbing over from the passenger side (luckily the car normally parked at that side was not in situ at the time)."

"Simply fantastic, and with secure parking it’s just great (yes the parking spot is a little tight, but the other drivers are very courteous). The house itself is very nicely laid out. The photos don’t really do it justice. The open plan layout is lovely and the rooms are all a very good size. A couple of bits need fixing/touching up, but these are nothing that would affect your stay (as mentioned in other reviews, the bedroom blinds are more for privacy than keeping the light out, so take some eye masks). We had a couple of issues that were fixed extremely quickly. Good pressure in the taps/shower, although the kitchen could use a boost as it takes a while to fill the kettle. Our only slight down point on this property, is that the walls and ceilings are very thin! You must appreciate it’s an old property, but you can hold a conversation with someone upstairs from the living room without raising your voice. That wasn’t an issue for us, but might be worth considering if you have a large group. On the whole we would definitely come back, if only for the location! Lots of great restaurants and bars a stones throw away (most of which are dog friendly too!). Try Cactus Jacks’ chilli challenge if you dare - it nearly killed me, but was just another great memory of our trip to the Gables!"

"Some of the plumbing was a bit dodgy. The sink in the downstairs loo didn't work and the hot tap in the bathroom needed a strong hand to prevent it dripping. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The BT internet connection was excellent one of the best we've had in Weymouth. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of plates and cutlery, especially large knives. Also good to have a decent bread-bin. Beds very comfortable with ample towels etc. Lastly the general access to the parking and property were difficult. I understand we were told it wasn't disabled friendly but still not a great feature of the property."

" This is much appreciated. I am aware that there is a washer/dryer available for clothes washing but would it be possible to have a washing line in the courtyard area where no one can see so some items could be hung out to dry/to get the sand off ect before putting in the machine, as aware not to put out the front. We love the Gables and it suits are needs perfectly. Thank you "

" As a family of 6 we found the house to be large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. It was clean and the bedding and towels supplied were very clean and of a good quality. And the kitchen had everything (and more) that we needed. We loved the fact it was situated so close to the harbour and town. Just a walk out of the gate. The only downside was the parking. There is only parking for one car. As we had booked a minivan for us all to travel comfortably we were not able to park in the designated parking bay. One phone call to Dorset Council and we had a parking ticket (£38) that lasted us for the whole week. It covered every long stay car park In Weymouth, Portland and Chessil Beach, so we parked at the Norte Forte car park over night. Just a 2 minute walk away from the house. £38 well spent. If coming back to Weymouth, we would certainly book The Gables again. "

The patio doors were not wiped clean, smudges & bird poo on glass which we had to clean off & outside the patio ground was not washed clean, could not sit out there at all & the window of the house could also have been wiped clean. Upstairs windows would not stay open, had to put a cushion on ledge to keep window open. "
