The Old Council Chamber is a modern apartment situated on the Isle of Portland. It is a well-equipped home away from home and boasts an isolated location, connected to the mainland by Chesil Beach which is less than a 10 minute walk from the property. Chesil Cove is a few minutes stroll and offers a fantastic range of activities such as scuba diving, fishing or simply soaking up the sun. Portland is home to a museum, a castle and of course the iconic lighthouse at the very top of the island. Here you can experience the most wonderful views over the bay and there are various clifftop walks to pursue. The drive over to the seaside town of Weymouth is around 15 minutes and there are frequent bus services that run throughout the day. Weymouth is a lively town with an attractive Georgian seafront which runs adjacent to the award winning sandy beach, lined with shops, cafes and bars. The property provides comfortable accommodation and has a modern feel throughout. The open plan living/kitchen/diner offers a space to eat, relax and socialise. Catch up on your favourite TV shows or cosy down and get lost in a good book. Enjoy home cooked meals at the breakfast bar while you plan your itinerary and the bedroom with a king size bed is guaranteed to offer a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom has a walk in shower, basin and WC to freshen up in and prepare for your day. The Old Council Chamber is convenient located close to shops and pubs and is the perfect base for a self-catering holiday on the Jurassic Coast.
Situated on Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, the village of Fortuneswell can be found on the rugged Isle of Portland peninsula, joined to the mainland via Chesil Beach, a pebble spit, which stretches 18 miles towards West Bay. Formerly a quarrying area, Fortuneswell boasts a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with an intriguing maze of streets that wind their way up a steep hill to offer stunning views of the Jurassic Coast and the rolling hills of Dorset beyond. The surrounding countryside is well known as a birdwatcher’s paradise, plus with great walking and climbing opportunities, an array of watersport activities, wonderful sandy beaches, and Weymouth just 5 miles away, this super holiday destination is not to be missed!
