The kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms very up to date. / though the floor of the master shower was extremely slippy and I’d suggest a shower mat needed before someone has an accident. The heated towel rail didn’t work so it was hard to dry the towels as the bathroom was windowless.- and the outside clothes line is still not connected up properly. We didn’t particularly like Portland. The area seems somewhat run down with not much to commend it. In our opinion the location detracts from the property itself. The wonderful sea views had been commented on in previous reviews. However don’t expect anything panoramic as the windows are tiny and covered in salt spray due to the proximity of the beach. The owners had kindly left a welcome hamper which we much appreciated. Parking and security was good but in view of the area sadly we wouldn’t be back.

The accommodation was well-appointed with nice personal touches which gave it a more homely feeling than the usual holiday let. The only real issue was parking as there was only one car parking space - that was made quite clear in the listing, but the implication was that there was plenty of nearby parking. Not really! And certainly not at the weekend. That wasn’t an issue for our son who stayed with us for part of the week as he was well up to walking the quarter mile that was generally needed before he could park - but that might well be an issue for others - especially as the let is potentially for 6, so that could very reasonably translate as 3 couples and 3 cars.

It was great to have secure private parking as lots of the accommodation on Portland doesn’t. Conveniently located for getting around and lovely to just open the security gate and be right on the sea front for the amazing sunsets. The property was also really quiet as we barely heard any noise for the whole of our stay. There are some fantastic coastal path walks that you can do on Portland and Weymouth is also a great place to visit. We had such a good time that we have booked to go back for 2 weeks in September. Finally, thanks for the nice hamper on arrival, it was much appreciated.
