Guests are charmed by the Old Higher Lighthouse Branscombe Lodge's unique location with stunning sea views and peaceful surroundings. The property's cleanliness and the friendly, helpful hosts receive high praise. While some find the decor dated and the comfort level of beds variable, the added bonus of lighthouse access and the occasional mention of welcome gifts contribute to a memorable stay. The property is ideal for nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil retreat.
The property is consistently described as spotless and immaculate, indicating a high standard of cleanliness that guests appreciate.
The location is highly praised for its amazing sea views, tranquility, and proximity to coastal walks, making it a standout feature of the property.
While many guests find the property comfortable, some note the beds could be more comfortable and the heaters not always working, suggesting room for improvement in this area.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the unique lighthouse access. However, some guests mention the need for refurbishment and issues with heating and shower facilities, slightly lowering the score.
Guests mention receiving welcome gifts such as milk, cookies, and home-grown vegetables, which is a thoughtful touch, though it's politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.
Situated just forty feet from the Old Higher Lighthouse, this upside down detached Grade II listed cottage makes the most of the fantastic sea and coastal views, as the whole of the first floor is given over to a light and airy sitting and dining room with windows on all four sides. Take advantage of shared access to the lighthouse tower and observatory from where there are breathtaking views of Dorset's World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Alternatively, take a dip in the shared heated pool and Jacuzzi, or take a stroll along the rugged coast. A memorable cottage whatever the weather! Note: This cottage is next to Ref. 12494, together they sleep 8.
