About this property

Easton 0.6 miles. Resting on the outskirts of the hamlet of Wakeham on the Isle of Portland, Dorset is this three-storey, semi-detached holiday home, Coastal House. The property offers a family or group of six easy access to the coast, historic sites, and excellent amenities: an ideal location for exploring the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty! After parking in the off-road space, step inside to find a fully equipped and stylish kitchen/diner to prepare your favourite suppers, to be served at the table for six. Bathing suits and sandy towels can be easily cleaned in the handy utility with a washing machine, while you step out into your own private, enclosed courtyard; with a glass of wine in hand, take a seat on the outdoor furniture and enjoy a moment's peace. Completing the ground floor is a twin bedroom with crisp white sheets, ideal for those with limited mobility, while upstairs you'll find a double with cushions and throws for extra comfort. Retreat to the first-floor sitting room with plush sofas to sink into with a film on the Smart TV or get lost in your favourite book. On the second floor lies the master bedroom, a spacious room with stylish touches, bedside lamps, a dressing table, and views of Pennsylvania Castle! There's even an en-suite shower room for extra privacy, while all guests have access to the first-floor bathroom with a bath, shower over, and heated towel rail. When it's time to venture out, explore the hamlet of Wakeham with the ruins of Rufus Castle, overlooking the secluded Church Ope Cove, while coastal walks guide you along the Isle of Portland for picturesque sea views and quiet coves. The village of Easton is nearby to dine at the Corner House Inn, stock up at the supermarket, or stop for breakfast at White Stones Art Cafe; the sculpture museum of Tout Quarry is sure to please the whole family, as well as the looming Portland Castle, while further south on the island you'll find Portland Bird Observatory and Portland Bill Lighthouse Visitors Centre to watch the crashing waves. Portland is also home to the iconic National Sailing Academy where you can try your hand at many water sport activities, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddle boarding. A short drive off the island leads you to Weymouth, a vibrant seaside town with plenty to see and do; discover classic seaside amusements along Weymouth Beach, take a boat tour from Weymouth Bay, or escape to RSPB Radipole Lake for plenty of wildlife to see! You'll be in a fantastic location for exploring the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Chesil Beach, a popular location for anglers and walkers along the shingle beach with seaside cafes. Book your tickets at Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre for a trip on the Fleet Explorer, a glass-bottom boat to peer at sea creatures or lace up your walking boots and trek along West Dorset Heritage Coast for views you'll never forget. Treat your loved ones to a holiday along Dorset's sparkling shores at Coastal House.

Wakeham is a small hamlet on the eastern side of Portland's mountainous 'Isle', above the beach at Church Ope Cove, located in a conservation area. The wide road that runs through the heart of town was built to facilitate horse-drawn carts transporting Portland Stone from the area's various quarries. Explore the neighbouring coastal route, a steep walk down to the cove, passing the remnants of the Grade I listed Rufus Castle and St Andrew's Church along the way, and learn all about stone quarrying at a fascinating exhibition within the local Portland Museum.
