Around and About
Found right on the border between Somerset and Dorset, the little village of Henstridge is located at the head of the lush Blackmore Vale, used as a setting in Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. Set in glorious countryside, Henstridge is well served by a shop, pubs, restaurants and a cafe and also offers a variety of stunning walks and fine views. The village itself is idyllically between Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire and is within a short drive of Sherborne - famous for its abbey and castles and as the home of Sir Walter Raleigh. Close by are a number of National Trust properties - including the Stourhead House and Gardens – whilst also within easy reach is the hilltop town of Shaftesbury - best known for the picturesque Gold Hill. The beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and The Dorset Heritage Coast are also accessible, making this a wonderfully varied holiday spot.
Somerset offers 3 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmers' market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.
