About this property

Resting in a superb setting close to Cobb Harbour in Lyme Regis in Dorset, is this quirky holiday chalet, The Fisherman’s Hut. The perfect destination for couples looking for a romantic retreat, The Fisherman’s Hut offers compact but beautifully presented accommodation and has all the ingredients for a truly memorable stay. With incredible open sea views, the chalet is a magical place to visit and the wood panelling and exposed beams help to create a wonderfully nautical feel. During the day the sofa offers ample seating whilst at night it folds out into a double sofa bed. On a balmy summer evening you can imagine throwing open the chalet door and sitting on the outside patio area soaking up the enchanting sea and beach views while enjoying spending time with your better half. The small but beautifully formed kitchen has enough facilities for you to be able to produce fantastic food for your loved one and there is even space for an intimate dining area. The shower is surprisingly opulent with a contemporary feel to it and the perfect place for a refreshing shower in the morning before heading out for a day of activities. The chalet is within walking distance of Lyme Regis’s infamous Cobb Harbour and Causeway and is a great place to blow the cobwebs away before walking into town where there is a good selection of shops and amenities as well as a museum, an aquarium and of course a beach. If you’re looking for a day out then hop in the car for a scenic drive to some of the region’s top attractions which include Axe Valley Wildlife Park, Seaton Tramway, Beer Quarry Caves, Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and Forde Abbey and Gardens. Take a boat trip along the Jurassic coast, go dolphin watching or go sea fishing or for something a little more energetic why not have a go at a rib ride? Enjoy a small holiday with a big imagination at The Fisherman’s Hut.

The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. The scenic coastal path offers excellent walking opportunities and spectacular views of the stunning Jurassic coast, whilst the gently shelving sands and sparkling waters of Lyme Bay provide the perfect place in which to relax and unwind. A holiday destination to savour!

We found the cooking facilities were perfectly adequate for our needs, digital twin hob, toaster and combi - microwave/grill the latter proving very useful for warming plates. The shower was easy to control with lovely hot water, very handy after morning swims and the washing machine proved really useful to rinse and spin swimwear. The space inside the hut has been used cleverly so we did not feel limited. The sofa bed was easy to use and we found it comfortable enough. We were able to watch the women's cup final match the following morning of arrival on our TV although sadly not giving the end result we had all hoped for! The owners did not intrude but were there if we needed anything. They are lovely friendly people and we can heartily recommend booking a fishing trip. We chose a deep sea fishing trip and came home with mackerel and bream which we cooked with tomato sauce, capers, olives and pasta the next day. Harry told us to help ourselves to runner beans growing in the garden. He runs a family fishing and sightseeing trips business in Lyme. There is much to see and do nearby, interesting architecture, museums well worth visiting and lots of independent retail and good quality food shops. We enjoyed scallops and fish and chips from Herbies on the front and some delicious traditional pasties from Mulberry Manor. We were fortunate with the weather and enjoyed the buzz of happy holiday makers on the beach so close by but the peace and tranquillity we could enjoy back at the hut away from all the bustle in an instant.
