The perfect destination for families on holiday, the cottage is a period property which has been sympathetically refurbished and boasts a wealth of original features whilst offering all the mod cons any discerning traveller would expect. The open-plan living space is a delight to spend time in with feature wood panelling, original tiled flooring, an extensive sitting area, a feature woodburner-style fireplace and a rustic dining table, all adding up to create a truly welcoming ambience. You can imagine spending many happy hours in this room eating, drinking, laughing, talking, reading and just generally chilling out and doing what you’re meant to do on holiday! When you’re feeling peckish then make your way into the attractive kitchen; it might be small, but it still has everything needed to be able to rustle up delicious food for the whole family. If the sun is shining, then you might be able to eat alfresco on the delightful patio area where you can soak up the sights and sounds of Lyme Regis. Pull up a chair at the patio table, pour yourself a drink, sit back and relax as the sun goes down on another beautiful day in Dorset. As bedtime comes, guests can take their pick from any of the four bedrooms, two doubles and two singles; all are stylishly presented and offer a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the holiday. There is nowhere better to wake up in the morning and after a soak in the bath or a refreshing shower, you’re ready to head out. Lyme Regis is just a short walk away and there is plenty to do here from a good selection of shops to browse, the beach, harbour and causeway to explore and the museum and aquarium to visit. Hop in the car for a family day out to various attractions including Seaton Tramway, Beer Quarry Caves, Tunnel Tree Tops, Axe Valley Wildlife Park and Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens. Beaches to check out include Charmouth, West Bay, Chesil and Weymouth with no end of invigorating walks to be had along the 630 mile long South West Coastal Path, guaranteed to be rewarded by some captivating views along the way. For a holiday with charm and character, pay a visit to Monmouth Cottage.

The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. It is light, bright and airy and extremely well equipped. There was nothing I needed and couldn’t find and in fact I found things I didn’t expect, including hairdryers in the double rooms, which was brilliant! I was also impressed at the amount of china, glass, cups and cutlery were provided, making life much easier. We would definitely stay again!

As we were all ladies we did miss a mirror as there was not one in all bedrooms. I did find the picture of the cottage a bit misleading as I was under the impression that the yellow cottage next door was Monmouth cottage and this is what we were looking for when we arrived. You will know that we did have an issue with cat/dog poo on the carpet behind the blue chair in the 1st floor front bedroom reported to you on Friday. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cottage was a delight in spite of this.

Clean, light with great flow to the lounge/dining area. Great location in the centre of town with restaurants and art shops on your doorstep.
