Snaptrip says

Ivy Cottage in Lyme Regis is a cosy and homely property with a great location close to the beach and town amenities. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable beds, the quaintness of the cottage, and the little extras like games and streaming services. Some concerns were raised about thin curtains and the lack of a dishwasher, despite being advertised.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage generally seems well-received in terms of cleanliness, but there are mentions of the need for a more thorough cleaning between lettings, specifically regarding crockery and cutlery. Bedding was also described as tired and grey.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, shops, and local attractions. However, accessibility issues due to steep hills and parking challenges have been noted, which could affect those with mobility issues.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, but there are comments about the master bedroom bed being small and the presence of winter duvets in hot weather. The lack of a coffee table and difficulty using the TV were also mentioned.

Facilities have mixed reviews; guests appreciated the xbox, board games, and smart TV upgrade, but there were issues with the TV signal, lack of a dishwasher, and a broken fence in the garden. The absence of a hairdryer plug near a mirror was also pointed out.

The provision of games, an xbox, and streaming services indicates thoughtfulness, as does the mention of a welcome pack. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A period cottage tucked away into the picturesque town of Lyme Regis, Dorset. With easy access to local facilities and activities, Ivy Cottage is ideal for a family looking to explore the Jurassic coast. Be welcomed by a quaint front garden full of shrubs and a purple door as you unpack from the near by car parking and enter the property. After a long journey, make your way into the sitting/dining room where you will be able to rest your feet in one of the stylish grey sofas, marvelling at the tasteful renovation within the cottage where white walls and wooden flooring mixes with the traditional wooden roofbeams and fireplace to create a space full of character, and there is a dining table for all guests to enjoy a heart-warming meal together beside the large bay windows that draw in the natural light from outside. When stomachs start to rumble, a well fitted kitchen with wooden furniture and roofbeams creates a great space for the designated chef to try out local produce. Climb the steep stairs to find two bedrooms, a double with fresh décor, tasteful wooden doors and a lot of storage and a bunk room with a fantastic bare stone wall allowing an insight into the history of this building, along with a spacious bathroom. Enjoy the potted plants with a cup of tea outside in the mornings before heading out to explore the local area. Lyme Regis is a fantastic holiday resort, teeming with amazing activities, for example there are two museums, Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium and Langmoor and Lister Gardens all within the town centre, and an abundance of shops selling local art, craft and home made goodies, as well as many delicious eateries waiting to cater to your culinary needs. Take a stroll along the wonderful beaches with a view across the ocean, harbours and towering cliffs where you can enjoy a family picnic, a swim or even try out fossil hunting. Further afield there are many great places to visit including Cannington Viaduct and the Donkey Sanctuary. Make a family holiday to remember with a stay at Ivy Cottage.

The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. Very comfy cosy cottage in great location. Only issue was the fence had broken in the garden and our dog escaped twice. Made it more difficult having to put on lead to go out all the time.

If I had to mention anything negative I would say to make sure the place is thoroughly clean between lettings including the crockery and cutlery. Also the bedding is very tired and grey. We loved the compactness, the location and that it was warm and comfy. Would definitely recommend and go back.

The cottage is located on Sherborne Lane, a very old and picturesque street in the centre of the town. Much of Lyme is built on steep hills. Guests can normally stop at the bottom of the lane to unload/load before finding a space at the public carpark. We will arrange to take some up to date photos to show the steps and staircase. We do hope that you enjoyed exploring the local areas. The Lyme Bay Team
