High Cliff Orchard is a spacious and comfortable cottage in Lyme Regis, Dorset, with a large garden and ample parking. It offers a quiet location close to resort facilities, though the steep walk to the beach may be challenging for some. The property is generally well-equipped and suitable for families, including those with elderly members.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. One guest found the property dirty upon arrival, while others reported it as spotless. This suggests inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The property is in a quiet location close to local amenities, with a steep walk to the beach. The challenging walk back up is noted, but the proximity to Lyme Regis is appreciated.
Guests find the house comfortable with spacious bedrooms and living areas. However, some guests mentioned that the beds could be hard, indicating room for improvement in comfort.
The property is well-equipped but has some maintenance issues such as a difficult-to-operate patio door and a loose toilet seat. The dishwasher's performance was also criticised.
There is no mention of gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

From the bedrooms and parts of the garden, guests can enjoy attractive sea views across Lyme Bay.

High Cliff Orchard is conveniently located for exploring Lyme Regis and its well known attractions. The town’s family friendly beach is ideal for swimming, paddling, or simply relaxing. The historic Cobb - Lyme Regis’ iconic stone harbour - offers scenic walks, boat trips, and panoramic coastal views. The town centre features a wide selection of independent shops selling local crafts, produce, art, and fossils, along with a strong choice of cafés, pubs, and restaurants to suit a variety of tastes.
Lyme Regis is also part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, making it a popular location for fossil hunting along beaches such as Monmouth Beach and the main town beach. With museums, galleries, the aquarium, and attractive public gardens all close by, the area provides plenty of options for families and those looking for a relaxed coastal break.
For walkers the property is a short walk away from Ware Cliffs and the start of the section of South West Coast Path known as the Undercliff which runs between Lyme Regis and Seaton. A natural unspoiled environment of ancient woodland and open meadows preserved by the National Trust, the area was an important Armada look-out point and later overlooked the landing of the Duke of Monmouth in 1685 at the start of what became the Monmouth Rebellion. It didn’t end well for the Duke, but you can enjoy the wonderful views and walks without fear of losing your head!

Unfortunately on arrival the property was extremely dirty. We had to immediately go to the local supermarket to purchase cleaning materials and spent the first two hours cleaning the property. I wish I had taken photographs. The toilets were in a dire state, we had to wash crockery/cutlery, clean out the fridge from spilt products, clean the kitchen and dust the house. It was a very disappointing start to our holidays. The cleaners on this occasion have really let your company down. The house itself is lovely, light and spacious. Would be good to put a note in the book about the games in the otterman style cabinet. We only found them on the morning we were leaving. Overall a lovely stay but as previously mentioned the cleanliness let it down.

The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped (although the fridge is a bit small if 8 people are staying ). It is a bit âtiredâ and needs modernising but that would obviously bump the price up ! It is a shame to see lots of dead planters around the property - given the hot weather it is impossible to keep them healthy so better to have none - it makes the house and gardens look very unkempt . Having said that we enjoyed our stay very much the house suited our needs and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was ideal for my elderly mother . As others have said it is a very steep walk down to Lyme but that kept us fit !

Bedrooms were spacious & well furnished. Kitchen & breakfast room had plenty of room for the seven of us to prepare meals & sit around the table.
