A beautiful, thatched, detached house, originally constructed in the 16th century, Kiddles House is packed with original features such as exposed beams and stonework and offers spacious accommodation for up to eight guests in the charming village of Piddletrenhide. Such is the charm of Kiddles House, the poet Ogden Nash took inspiration from here for his poem 'Paradise for Sale'.

The ground floor of this characterful property provides light and spacious accommodation including a stunning sitting room and dining area with exposed beams throughout and a cosy wood burning stove. The family room with its exposed stone wall provides an additional space for watching television and enjoying games together, complete with a reading table, puzzle table and chairs, bookshelves and large television. The generous and modern breakfast kitchen is very well equipped with a Range cooker, double ovens and a warming drawer. The utility and boot room are the perfect areas to store your walking boots and coats and keep on top of family laundry with the washing machine, tumble dryer and ceiling airer if required.

Upstairs, the master bedroom suite enjoys a super-king size bed, dressing area and en-suite shower room. Bedroom two also has a super-king size bed and en-suite bathroom; and the two twin bedrooms share a large family bathroom with bath and separate shower.

The large rear garden is well-stocked with shrubs and trees and has a delightful small pond along. There are a choice of spots to sit and enjoy your outdoor space; with a patio area accessed from the family room's french doors with picnic bench; or further into the garden, where a large table and chairs are provided.

Piddletrenhide is a picturesque village in the Piddle Valley and offers numerous walks in all directions. Or enjoy a day at the beach with the Jurassic Coast only a short drive away. The county town of Dorchester is only a 10 minute drive away, and within a 20 minute drive are the popular market towns of Sherborne and Blandford.

The cottage itself was very nice and extremely large. I felt it could have done with a good vacuuming however as there were lots of cobwebs around the hose - and the spiders that made them! Our one real disappoint was the fact that the two pubs in the village were closed. One of the main reasons why we booked the cottage in the first place was that there were, according to the entry page for Kiddles House on the Rural Retreats webpage, two pubs in walking distance. This meant that we could visit the pubs to eat and drink and not have to use the cars. It is really important I think that the information about the pubs should be put on the Rural Retreats site to avoid people being mislead in the future.

Excellent property- well equipped and very comfortable kitchen, lounge and bedrooms. Great summer garden and plenty of options for trips out. Shame the two village pubs have closed but still really good restaurants a short drive away.
