About this property
How does a cosy ‘Eco friendly’ holiday in rural Dorset complete with a wood-fired hot tub sound, Middle Acre is the perfect place to kick back and relax. Small enough to care, with a pair of bespoke Shepherd huts tucked away and packed with all the essentials you could need for a self-catered stay including soft furnishings, throws, a double bed, kitchenette, en-suite shower and flushing toilet. Solar lighting and wood burner makes for a snug off-grid stay with your own private cottage garden style space, with barbecue for alfresco dining. The wood-fired hot tub ensures a good nights sleep after star gazing the dark skies above.Take the five wooden steps up into the hand built shepherd hut and find a cosy open plan space furnished with vintage and repurposed furniture and fittings, the whistling kettle sits on the single gas hob,as the solar powered fridge chills your drinks. Middle Acre has an Eco Friendly Ethos; Shepherd huts lend themselves to off-grid living thanks to their natural compactness and reducing reliance on mains power. Living sustainably has a positive impact and being closer to nature has proven to make us feel better, heath care professionals recommend it! Being off-grid with no electricity or no Wi-Fi shouldn’t mean you’re worried about being a bit too far off the beaten track, do not fret, a solar-powered socket will be provided for USB charging and the pub and local farm shop are only one and a half miles away. Not only do you reduce your carbon footprint by holidaying in the UK, these shepherd huts have some great energy-saving features too, including solar-power, sustainable rustic interiors, environmentally friendly cleaning and washing products, and shower water is reused to irrigate the wild flower meadow and plants. Home comforts can still be enjoyed from the double bed, heating, lighting, hot and cold running water, and flushing toilet provided. Middle Acre is near the size of a football pitch, with Chestnut trees, fruit trees, flowers and a poly tunnel, whilst beyond the hut’s gate a gentle wander will lead to the bee hives, kitchen garden and V E Garden, where you'll meet the free range chickens, ducks, bantams and friendly farm collie Bea. Middle Acre is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideally situated for a stroll to the Smugglers Inn or walk to the local farm shop and café with excellent menus and ambiance. Explore one of the steep ancient smugglers tracks to bring you to the shingle beach of Ringstead Bay, where the water is incredibly clear and safe for bathing. For the more experienced hikers, tackle the undulating world heritage coast towards the iconic arch of Durdle Door. There are many local activities available such as horse riding, day fishing for Roach or Carp in the neighbouring well stocked Wally’s Lakes, or evening beach fishing in the Bay. Try your hand at Clay Pigeon shooting with a lesson at the nearby Purbeck Shooting School, or enjoy the thrill of Coasteering with Lulworth Outdoors, hire a mountain bike, and after all that exercise take a leisurely tour with the informative Jurassic Safari. To enhance your stay the hosts can guide you on a local wellness walk, tempting you with the benefits of Mindfulness and Forest bathing starting from your hut. Of course you don’t have to do any of these; you can relax in your own private garden in the dappled shade of the huge Chestnut trees and just breathe! "Perfect hosts who made us feel very welcome."

"The hit was kitted out with everything we needed and more! We wished we could have stayed longer!!!"
"The little kitchen was awesome with all the equipment we could need. The shower was great and the wood fired hot tub and garden were awesome. We loved every minute of our stay. The hosts had thought of everything to make our stay perfect."
"The Hut and facilities are absolutely first class and the hosts lovely. Parking was no issue with the whole site being secure. From a location and setting point of view, the location is very relaxed and peaceful, and within a mile or two beaches, walks, pubs... Thoroughly recommend!!"
"It has everything you could need and is in a quiet location. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We have visited quite a few similar accommodations and this was by far the best. Thank you guys :)"
"After a pretty shocking stay at a dreadful hotel the night before we had the luck of being able to stay here and at short notice! Michelle and Roger made is feel very welcome and relaxed. It was very much what we needed. The log fuelled hot tub was absolutely fantastic. A short country walk to a pub. The bed was the comfiest we have stayed in! Will definitely be going there again soon! Xx"
"The wood-fired hot tub was a great attraction after strolling about the beautiful coastline and hills, and the smoker BBQ was an added bonus. The hosts, Roger and Michelle, were very friendly and helpful, and their dog Bee and the poultry provided unepxected entertainment. Would thoroughly recommend."
"Michelle and Roger (and Bee!) are the friendliest hosts. Such a lovely quiet spot. You're not overlooked by anyone but it's close enough to the real world that you can walk to the pub. Hot tub under the moonlight is a must :) Cannot fault this place - from the comfiest bed in the world to the marshmallows for toasting - this is the perfect getaway to escape a hectic life! We didn't want to leave!"
"The hut is beautifully compact. We particularly enjoyed the wood burning stove and hot tub. The owners were incredibly nice & helpful and Bee was a delight. We are walkers and found plenty to keep us occupied, walking over to The Smugglers is a must on a fine evening. Unfortunately we had to cut our holiday short but definitely we will be back."
"Michelle & Roger were perfect hosts , we would definitely love to go again."
"Perfect hosts who made us feel very welcome and a beautiful hut which is just beautiful inside and outâ¦.. the little touches like the milk, cider and mostly the marshmallows for roasting made us smile and feel like we would definitely return one day! Loved it!! Thank you for letting us stay x"
" It was such a fantastic experience and we will definitely be looking to stay again in the near future! We absolutely loved everything about our stay from the quirky hut, to the log burning hot tub, to the sites nearby, it was just fabulous! We managed to visit a nearby site called Durdledoor whilst on our stay and was absolutely blown away - definitely a must see if you stay here or nearby! We finished our stay with the walk that was recommended by the hosts and again, it was just fantastic! Everything about our stay was brilliant and it provided us with the perfect opportunity to have a week away from the outside world. A massive thank you to both of the hosts for making us feel so special throughout our stay and for providing such a super experience! We will definitely be visiting again when we next get the chance! "
" The hut was immaculate and very comfy. Could not fault it. Brilliant hosts, made us feel very welcome and were very helpful. "
" We came for a week, and even in the downpour weather, we had a very special stay. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings, and located very close to the sea. The hut itself was beautifully presented, with lovely eco bath products, and the bed was unexpectedly comfortable! Michelle and Roger were wonderful, helpful hosts who shared so much useful info, alongside fascinating history of the local area - they've created a really special place with a magic touch that you don't find in many places. We would love to come back! "
" Great pubs and walks nearby. Lovely hosts who were on hand and very generous. "
" It was the perfect balance of rustic nature with luxury! The hut is small but so perfectly laid out, every bit of space is used effectively and the lovely owners have provided absolutely everything you could possibly need. They were also super friendly and helpful, providing tips for us useless city dwellers on how to set up the wood burner and also giving very clear instructions for local walks. We didn't use the hot tub in the end but it looked absolutely gorgeous. We explored the local area a bit and the pebbly beach is lovely but most of our time was spent enjoying the hut, lying in the garden reading, toasting marshmallows on the firepit and cooking a feast on the BBQ. As the listing says there is no wifi which is all part of the fun 'off grid' experience but there is perfectly good mobile and 4G signal if needed. The hosts kindly provide all the essentials you need for cooking, plus fuel for the wood burner, BBQ, firepit and hot tub. There was very reliable hot water and a lovely fully functional bathroom with a great shower - we couldn't believe they fit all of that plus a lovely comfy double bed into such a small space! We'll be back as soon as we can. "
" We had a lovely welcome when we arrived, Michelle and Roger both gave us all the info we needed and were really helpful. The hut is incredibly well equipped, as well as having ample private outdoor space and set in lovely grounds. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to use the BBQ to cook in the evenings, but had we not been, the kitchen has a gas ring and plenty of pans that it wouldn't have been a problem to rustle up something easily. The fact that Keets is 'off grid' was great, no TV or wifi, so we could really switch off. The wood burner kept us toasty in the evening and the hot tub was a delight after a long day of walking along the SW Coast Path. Keets is really well situated for access to the coast path so you don't have to drive anywhere and only a short walk to the local pub. I'd definitely recommend staying. Amazing hosts and perfect accommodation, can't wait to plan another trip soon. "
" Michelle and Roger were outstanding hosts and made our time There memorable and we will 100% be going back. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and very cosy we couldnât have asked for anymore. "
"The hosts were friendly, helpful but not intrusive. Beautiful part of the country, really peaceful."
".If a wind down is what you require, a week in a shepherds hut comes highly recommended. Canât wait to return, perfect in every way ."
"Lovely walks and fantastic scenery. Michelle and Rodger where brilliant host nothing was too much trouble. The shepherd hut was lovely clean and fully equipped. The hot tub was amazing. We will be back soon."
"Michelle & Roger are so welcoming with an attitude that nothing is too much trouble. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future"
