About this property

Totally secluded Lower Barn at Blagdon Farm sits South of Dorchester, just two miles from Martinstown and Portesham and offers stunning views of Hardy’s monument.

This secluded, stunning barn is located two miles from the Dorset villages of Martinstown and Portesham, four miles from Abbotsbury and six miles from the wonderful expanse of Chesil Beach.

Three bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms offer the most luxurious accommodation for a family of six or group of friends. The barn welcomes dogs and provides an outdoor kennel for them to dry off from the endless supply of muddy walks.

Converted to a very high standard with underfloor geo-thermal heating, modern kitchen and cosy wood burning stove, the open-plan living areas provide a wonderful sense of space and light. Wildlife lovers will delight in the deer and hare grazing in the garden and surrounding fields and the network of footpaths and bridleways leading to a multitude of walks.

What a stunning holiday home you have! How wonderfully we were welcomed and looked after (please also thank Sue for us), with all the friendly pre-visit communication, the extra comforts, and the great information. The barn was so well appointed and comfortable too. And what a super area: such great walks, views and pubs/restaurant/cafes. We loved it all! We particularly love what you have done to make the most of such a very special location, both outside and in: the wonderful gradual setting of barn fields; the beautiful glass enhancing the lofty views; and the uplifting feeling of space because of the fabulous gallery - everything has been done with such care, thoughtfulness and style. It was a pleasure and a privilege to stay at your barn. We certainly hope to have the opportunity to return sometime. Thank you so much for everything.

We were the first to stay at Blagdon Lower Barn after the COVID-19 lock-down restrictions were lifted. The owner Liz, was extremely helpful both before and during our stay. The fantastic property was thoroughly cleaned and prepared before our arrival and we felt confident that there were no risks for us as a family staying here. The barn is lovely, in an isolated location, but within easy reach of some wonderful countryside and many of the attractions that Dorset has to offer. it is very well equipped, has a comfortable and spacious fell and also has excellent wi-fi (important for our teenage children). It felt very rural with deer just outside the windows and its very own barn owl swooping around the field. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would be excited to return. Thank you.

Relaxing and peaceful surrounded by wildlife. We spend one week here with our two children aged 12 and 8. It was lovely to wake up in the morning to see deer, rabbits and phesants from the barn windows. Totally secluded but the location is great to visit Dorchester, Weymouth and other areas of Dorset.
