Woodcutter's Cottage is one of four charming Victorian farm workers cottages, which sit proudly within the pretty village of Buckland Newton in beautiful countryside on the edge of the Dorset Downs, and within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Woodcutter's Cottage is one of four charming cottages, collectively called Dominey's Yard, which sit in the pretty village of Buckland Newton at the head of the Piddle Valley. The village has a popular family run pub, and a village shop just a few minutes’ walk away, and is ideally situated being within easy reach of the Abbey town of Sherborne and the County town of Dorchester. The Jurassic coast with its beautiful beaches and the SW coast path is only 18 miles away, making the location of your holiday home ideal.

On arrival at the cottage, you will enter through a small porch in to an open-plan sitting room with feature brick fireplace and wood burning stove, and a separate dining area. A step leads you down to the bright and well-equipped kitchen, which includes a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine, and there is a ground floor cloakroom. The cottage stairs lead you up to the two beautiful bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, and an attractive family shower room.

The cottage has its own private patio and garden, and guests can enjoy sharing the extensive grounds which are beautifully planted and maintained, and there is a large heated outdoor swimming pool (available May – September), and a children’s play area with garden games for all to enjoy. Home grown fruit and vegetables are available seasonally at Dominey's Yard, and there is much wildlife to enjoy watching whilst relaxing in the special setting.

Situated in beautiful Dorset countryside on the edge of the Dorset Downs and within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Woodcutter's Cottage is perfect for those who enjoy nature, walking and exploring the outstanding countryside. With many quaint and picturesque villages close by including Cerne Abbas with its famous hillside Giant, you will be spoilt for choice when staying in this comfortable and charming cottage.

If additional accommodation is required, the neighbouring cottages of Gardener’s, Gamekeeper’s and Poacher's can also be booked subject to availability.

A charcoal barbecue is provided.

The shared outdoor heated swimming pool is available during May - September.

Please note, this cottage retains its original ‘Dorset winder’ staircase to the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. This staircase is steeper and narrower than a modern staircase, please bear this in mind for small children and guests with reduced mobility.
