The Smithy is a well-received cottage offering a comfortable stay with stunning countryside views, well-equipped for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Guests appreciate the welcome basket, the cosy atmosphere, and the presence of friendly farm animals. While the location is praised for its proximity to local attractions, some guests note challenges with parking, access, and walking routes.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with only a few reports of minor cleanliness issues such as cobwebs and thin towels, which slightly affected the overall impression.
The location is generally appreciated for its proximity to Charmouth, Lyme Regis, and the Jurassic Coast. However, concerns about the busy nearby road, steep access, and limited walking paths for dogs have been noted.
Guests describe the beds as super comfy and the cottage as a comfortable retreat, despite some comments about the high placement of the TV and lack of shade in the garden.
The cottage is considered well-equipped by most, but some guests mention the need for maintenance, such as replacing pots and pans, fixing gates, and addressing the uneven driveway.
The welcome basket and dog treats were well-received, indicating a thoughtful touch. However, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Enjoy the nearby beach at Charmouth, head to Abbotsbury with its swannery and sub-tropical gardens, or visit picturesque Corfe Castle..

We had a lovely time at the Smithy. It served as our base for exploring the Jurassic Coast. The cottage had everything we needed and was just perfect. It was clean and well presented. The welcome basket was a nice touch too. Our dog even got a welcome treat. The beds were super comfy. Location is great for Charmouth and Lyme Regis but to be honest we didn’t drive far for the week we stayed, plenty to do local. The vintage quarter in Bridport is worth a look if you like bric-a-brac.The only issue we encountered was with parking. There is 1 space for the Smithy and 2 for the Stables next door. The Smithy is furthest along. Depending on how close the neighbours parked you may need to do a multi point turn to get out.

We had a lovely week here with our dog.The place was only 5minutes from Charmouth centre, or 10 minutes from Lyme Regis. The cottage is well appointed with everything you could need, and the location was down a steep track on quite a steep hill, car parking was good with only about 20 yds to the Smithy, the cottage we stayed in. It is situated on a hill with sheep in the field and a couple of comical geese, and occasionally a siting of a pot bellied pig.The views down to the bottom of the valley and the hills beyond are superb. As the weather we had was changeable it was important to have all the home comforts we did and one day we didn’t leave the cottage, but that’s no different to what we would have done at home .Luckily this was the only day it was that bad and the rest of the time we were able to get out and visit many of the local attractions and spent a lot of time in Lyme Regis, which is our favourite place. The Harbour Inn is always a good place to eat, or just have a drink. The atmosphere is always relaxed and seems to be full of happy and content visitors. We had a great time.👍

We absolutely loved it. Had daily visits from a pair of geese lovely Cotswold Sheep grazing in the adjacent field and a visit from a beautiful pig. We were greeted with a really lovely welcome basket and treats for our dogs plus bowls and towels. Really beautiful cottage amongst stunning countryside and not too far from the coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
