About this property

Cuckoo Cottage is a sleek contemporary cottage attached to the owner’s own lovely home, and it’s the perfect spot for a romantic getaway in the west of Dorset. As you pull onto the front of the property, take in the beautiful countryside scenery that you’ll be able to sit amongst in the garden, with extensive rolling hills, it’s a wonderful backdrop to compliment this equally pretty property. Step through the front door of the cream cottage and into the open-plan living space, covering the whole ground floor. It boasts a spacious combination of a kitchen, sitting and dining room, with ample seating for you to kick back and unwind. There’s a sofa for relaxed evenings and a dining table for you to share a romantic meal when you’re not exploring the local cuisine of Dorset. Upstairs is a large bedroom, fit with a lavish king-size bed and sloping windows, you’ll be able to watch the sun shine to the rain pour; no matter the weather, this room is the perfect hideaway to spend lazy Sunday afternoons after a week of exploring. In the summer months, the garden is the ideal spot to soak up the sun, with lovely seating on the raised patio above the lawn, enjoy food bought from the local town markets for lunch as you watch the sun set. Once you’ve explored the markets held twice weekly within the town, spend an evening at Palmer’s Brewery, offering tours and tasting, this spot serves as an excellent anniversary gift. The town hosts a variety of festivals throughout the summer months including the popular agricultural Melplash Show and for a more upbeat vibe, the Jurassic Fields Music Festival. Head down to coast and visit West Bay where much of the TV series Broadchurch was filmed. Spend a lazy day on the beach or join the South West Coast Path and explore the magnificent gold cliffs of Jurassic Coast. Walk west towards Eype and the famous Golden Cap or east to Burton Bradstock and enjoy a pit stop the very popular Hive cafe. Whatever the time of year there’s a lot to take in no matter your age or interests and Cuckoo Cottage will make the perfect base to explore from.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.

Owners were helpful and on hand to sort any problems; not that we had any. The cottage is ideally situated for a short walk into town and local amenities which includes a lovely restaurant 'Olive Tree'. A well situated cottage for visiting the Dorset area.

Spotlessly clean and well maintained. In an enviable position with great views and only a 10 min walk into Bridport. Walks from your door and very central for exploring both the coast and country of Dorset. Everything you need for a self catering cottage. Great cottage with owners on hand if you need anything. Would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely be returning ourselves.
