The cottage was immaculately clean and the kitchen stocked with every utensil, bakeware and pots and pans you might need to prepare meals - and there was even salt and pepper and a roll of foil for cooking in the cupboards. It could have done with a small shelf or two to put our food shopping but we managed with cardboard boxes on the kitchen floor. The beds are very comfortable and bedding and towels are as new and smelled clean and fresh. The sofa was quite small (in depth) so not very comfortable, although this might suit some who are less tall perhaps. The modern shower is let down by just a trickle of hot water - which you need to switch on at the immersion heater before every use. Changing the shower head might improve this enormously. The view from the conservatory is onto a field, so very quiet and private. There is a similar cottage adjacent to this one next door, but we heard no noise in spite of the proximity - due to the thick stone walls and clever planning of the conservatory doors. You need to stock up with food and drinks if you aren't eating out because the nearest facilities are in Bridport - which is a short drive but not exactly on the doorstep. Overall the cottage was more expensive than we wanted to pay, but the area is so beautiful it was made up by the glorious beaches across the nearby Jurassic coast. Our favourite was Hive bay - where we also found amazing fossils! Our host was friendly and available if we needed help with anything and we appreciated the stack of local information to browse through as we didn't know this area.
