Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, the proximity to a welcoming village pub, and the excellent base for exploring Dorset, Somerset, and the Jurassic Coast. The property is dog-friendly and offers good outdoor space, though the garden is not directly attached. Minor issues mentioned include occasional maintenance points and limited local amenities. Overall, guests thoroughly enjoyed their stays and would happily recommend or return.

Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with many guests describing the cottage as spotless, very clean, and well maintained. Only one review mentioned some cobwebs, but this was a rare exception.

The location is frequently praised for its tranquillity, rural charm, and convenience for exploring local attractions and the Jurassic Coast. The nearby pub is a popular feature, though some note limited village amenities.

Guests find the cottage spacious, comfortable, and homely, with particular mention of good beds and restful sleep. A few noted one twin bed as uncomfortable, but this was not a common complaint.

The property is described as very well equipped, with ample kitchen and living space, and thoughtful touches for dog owners. Some guests suggested minor improvements, such as a tumble dryer or mop, and noted the garden is across a yard.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, tea, coffee, and milk on arrival. While these gestures are frequently mentioned, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The Old Engine House is situated in a small village with a lovely pub two minutes walk away. Nice spacious building situated on an active farm, outside area to relax in the sun, and perfectly situated to visit the coast, Somerset, Devon etc.A couple small issues, some cobwebs in our bedroom, the smaller one, and the tv is not ‘smart’ so we couldn’t access Apps and only had basic channel options.Overall we would recommend and would revisit if staying in Dorset again :)
