Swanage 2.7 miles. Nestled in the charming village of Langton Matravers near Swanage, Dorset is Bobbin Cottage. This cosy little 18th-century stone cottage nestles between 2 adjoining active family stone dwellings and formed part of one of the earliest department stores in the UK. It is situated 30 yards from the roadside where you can park your car, and is accessed by a private paved walkway. The cottage is laid out as a modern open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room area downstairs, and also benefits from a downstairs toilet. The kitchen is well equipped with hob, oven, toaster, microwave, kettle and cafetière. The sitting area has two comfy bucket chairs and a sofa which is on the firm side, and is equipped with a Smart TV which provides pretty much all the viewing you might need. There is excellent WiFi throughout the property. Upstairs is a nicely decorated double bedroom with two very comfortable single beds which can be zipped and linked into a super king bed upon request, 7 days in advance. The bathroom is equipped with a bath, shower, toilet, basin and an electric towel rail. Outside is a small enclosed courtyard which has a table and chairs to sit out in if the weather is fair. If you can tear yourself away from this warming bolthole to venture into the nearby coastal town of Swanage where you can stock up on all your self-catering essentials at local shops or enjoy a night at pubs and restaurants like The Globe Inn, the Black Swan Inn or The Salt Pig Too. From here you can take a relaxing stroll to the famous Square & Compass pub in Worth Matravers, with an array of magnificent walks close by inlcuding Corfe Castle, Old Harry Rocks and Studland. For more tasty grub, venture to Studland and pay a visit to The Pig - on the beach and Shell Bay Seafood Restaurant or head to the old Saxon town of Wareham to find The Priory, nestled on the bank of the River Frome. Be sure to take advantage of the golden shores of Swanage Beach where you can while away sunny days sunbathing, splashing around in the sea of simply admiring the breath-taking sea views; the adventurous among you can even try your hand at thrilling watersports like jet skiing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The Dorset AONB benefits from a whole host of walking and hiking trails including cliff top walks with unbeatable coastal views, the Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve and the impressive South West Coast Path which spans 630 miles. Also take a visit to the National trust House, Kingston Lacy which was the residence of the landowner of the cottages All this and more awaits at Bobbin Cottage. Swanage is a small family-friendly beach town on the Island of Purbeck in Dorset, on the eastern end of the world-famous Jurassic Coast. The town is well-known for its annual jazz festival, held in July, and is also home to many stores, nice taverns, and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood. The picturesque Victorian wooden pier is a popular starting point for divers and a nice area to go for a stroll or try your hand at fishing. Swanage is the final stop of the Swanage Railway, a classic steam engine route that regularly takes passengers on a 6-mile excursion through gorgeous scenery to a stop just beyond the romantic ruins of Corfe Castle. Durlston Country Park is conveniently located nearby and makes for a delightful day trip with its breath-taking coastline walks, opportunities to sight dolphins and other animals, and well-equipped observation stations and cafe. You may take the regular chain ferry from the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks, or you can take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the best beaches in the country and is surrounded by heathland. At any time of year, you might have a fantastic holiday here.
