Fontmell Brook, which gives the village its name, runs through it, and the thatched cottages that dot the landscape are well-served by the village bar, which serves tasty fare and local ales. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are numerous scenic hikes to enjoy nearby. Shaftesbury is a fascinating ancient town famous for the Hovis ad campaign on its 'Gold Hill'.
