About this property

In the small hamlet of Sampford Spiney, tucked away at the end of a private drive is Buster Barn, a detached single-storey converted granite barn. You have the best of both worlds here, scenic and secluded, yet close to interesting moorland towns Buster Barn is well placed for exploring wild and rugged Dartmoor. The spacious open-plan living area with an oak fitted kitchen, (washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas hob/electric oven) armchairs and sofa bed (converts to double bed for alternative sleeping), has glazed double doors to the courtyard garden - a lovely place to spend time. The spacious kingsize bedroom is tranquil and inviting and has a huge en suite bathroom. Buster Barn is surrounded by an enclosed courtyard where there is a table and chairs, barbecue and ornamental pond (netted), over which a neat little trip trap bridge leads to gently sloping hillside garden and arbour with spectacular long views to a panorama of tors. You can walk via a small lane to the open moor and Crip Tor and Ingra Tor are both around ¾ mile away. Further afield, the market town of Tavistock has an indoor pool, cinema and plenty of shops and restaurants, and Plymouth, Devon's Ocean City is within an easy drive.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the south-west slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.

We were given a very warm welcome by the owners Monty and Sally, Winston the lab plus some yummy home made cakes. The barn was cleaned mid stay with clean sheets, towels which was amazing and not expected. Everything we wanted in the way of kitchen equipment was supplied even kitchen roll Our three dogs settled in straight away and loved the big garden. We would certainly recommend Buster Barn in this quiet part of Devon.

The cottage itself looked to be newly refurbished with all the facilities we could wish. The farm on which it was located was idyllic. It was a joy to watch the multitude of birds visiting the many bird feeding stations along with visits from squirrels and hedgehogs. The farm location was quite remote which suited us just fine. We enjoyed driving most days to the small villages surrounding the area to sample the sights and the wonderful old pubs as well as visiting some of the "major" towns like Tavistock and Plymouth. Just driving and seeing the ponies, sheep and Cattle on Dartmoor was a huge pleasure. Our hosts, Monty and Sally along with their dog "Winston", were friendly yet inobtrusive and always available when we needed them. One of the very best holidays we have had. I recommend it very highly.

Buster Barn was very clean and well equipped, the gardens and views beautiful. Our 3 dogs loved exploring the garden and field behind and Taz, the youngest loved just sitting at the top of the garden looking at the view. The road to get to the farm was certainly an experience
