About this property

This detached cottage converted from an old milking parlour is situated amongst farmland in Sampford Courtenay. With a charming garden, this is a calming cottage for a relaxing break to recharge your batteries. Head on in to the open plan living area, all big, bright and beautiful, where you can watch TV, sit back and gaze over the garden or open the doors to the sunny patio on a fine day. You have a handy bedroom on the ground floor, or take the stairs from the sitting area up to the gallery, a quiet area to read or play board games, then through to a twin bedroom which is made private from the sitting area below with a curtain. All around the cottage are lovely gardens, well tended and a special place to wander and spot a wide range of plants and wildlife around the ponds and brook. Stroll beyond to the good village inn, just ¼ mile along a lane, to enjoy an excellent menu, or the bustling town of Okehampton offers a choice of eateries as well as a cinema and leisure centre. You can coarse fish nearby or head to Dartmoor for excellent walking or off road cycling. With its central location, The Old Parlour is a brilliant place for soaking up the peace or touring the countryside and coast of Devon.

Sampford Courtenay, a sleepy but picturesque Devon village, and Okehampton, a thriving community known as ‘the gateway to the moor'. The whole area is a country lover's dream. The high tors of northern Dartmoor dominate the scenery and provide a splendid backdrop to nearby Okehampton

Regret I got the short straw as to the weather, but still a very relaxing week with a good book. Would suggest to future visitors, if you do decide to walk to the splendid village pub in the winter evenings - The New Inn, take a torch!

Very clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen for all of your needs. What a garden! Has to be seen to be believed. We were lucky enough to have a week of lovely weather and a walk around the “estate” every morning and evening was a must.

The Old parlour was beautiful and the grounds were amazing. The dog and girls loved being able to run around in the grounds at their free will.
