About this property

Ashwater 6.9 miles. Set within 250 acres of forest in the beautiful Roadford Lake Lodges site in Broadwoodwidger, Devon is this beautifully presented single-storey lodge, Mayflower. Ideal for families or friends in need of a relaxing retreat, with the option of a number of outdoor activities, this lodge makes a superb base for a trip to picture-perfect Devon. On arrival, off-road parking greets you before stepping into the open-plan living space, the social hub of the property. The kitchen offers all the appliances you need to whip up meals or picnics to fuel your busy days, while the dining area provides space to catch up over dinner and the sitting area a space to entertain with a Smart TV. Outside, the hot tub steals the show, with room for all eight guests to enjoy. The stylish rattan furniture means you can take your meals al fresco, or savour an evening glass of wine, or a refreshing morning coffee in the sun. When sleep calls, choose from four well-appointed bedrooms, each with plenty of storage for your belongings; the master bedroom is home to a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room for freshening up, while the remaining three bedrooms, consisting of a king-size with a Smart TV, a twin and a bunk, share a sleek bathroom with a shower over, giving you the option to rinse or soak. The wonderful location of this lodge means you will not be left short for activities during your stay; the nearby lake is just a short walk and can be seen from most windows, peaking through the trees. Windsurfing lessons, sailing, body-boarding and peaceful walks can all be enjoyed right from the doorstep, and when you get peckish, you can stop for a meal at the lakeside restaurant (opening May 2022). For a day out, the Dartmoor National Park is within easy reach by car and offers an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities, as well as historic sites including Foggintor Quarry and Cox Tor. Devon's glorious coast can also be reached by a scenic car journey, where you can relish in an afternoon on golden sands with an ice cream in hand, the nearest being Northcott Mouth Beach, home to pretty rock pools. The bustling town of Bude is well worth visiting while in the area too, where plenty more seaside fun can be found and a perfect day of coastal walks admiring the blue waters, along with seafood restaurants and quaint cafés to dine at. Choose Mayflower for a break to remember with your nearest and dearest.

A charming rural village in West Devon's green and undulating countryside. The village and surrounding area are popular with visitors looking for a true taste of country life, as they are surrounded by lush meadows, high hedgerows, wooded valleys, and abundant wildlife. Roadford Lake, with its sailing, fishing, and visitor centre, is only 4 miles away, and Bude, with its rolling surf, nightlife, and sandy beaches, is only 20 miles away. The RHS Garden at Rosemoor, the Dartington Glass Factory, and the rugged tors and open spaces of Dartmoor are all excellent day trips that can be reached in less than 40 minutes. If you're planning a trip to Dartmoor, keep an eye out for the picturesque moorland villages of Belstone and Sticklepath, which will take your breath away. Those looking for a true countryside experience away from the hustle and bustle of modern life need look no further.

We love it so much there that we have booked another 14 nights in a few weeks time. The accommodation is 1st class, you have everything you need for a relaxing stay, it is so quiet. Only disappointed this time that the privacy fence around the hot tub is no longer there meaning anyone driving in or out of the site or walking down the road can see you. Would definitely reccommend this lodge.

Beautiful peaceful location. Only negative point, when we increased our holiday to 2 weeks on the phone with Sykes we advised that different family members would be staying each week (2 1st week and 6 2nd week), we were advised that one of the beds which family had used 1st week would have a change of linen. Unfortunately that did not happen despite me phoning Sykes just after 3pm to check and I had to wash the linen myself. We will definitely book this lodge again if it is available.

Two families with four kids between us and lodge still felt roomy and spacious. Lodge facilities are good and really well equipped kitchen. The site is beautiful and was great to have use of the gym and to to be a few minutes walk from the playpark and lake. We loved the hot tub but do think it’s filter needed cleaning as there was leaves in it on arrival and as much as we tried to remove them, they seemed to stay in the tub for the whole week. The wine cooler is still broken as well and the high dry is snapped in places. All these are small things and we still had a lovely holiday but with no one ever on reception and maintenance coming now and then, we could have really done with someone on site we could ask about these things as they’re not big enough issues to call the owner. That would be my only feedback - we don’t really have a ‘middleman’ to sort out the smaller stuff. Aside from that - great lodge and location. We visited Lydford Gorge, Bude Beach, Chagford outdoor pool and Cotehele Hall - all roughly within 30/40 mins of the property and great family days out.
