Moorside Cottage in Yelverton, Devon, is praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and excellent location for exploring Dartmoor and surrounding areas. Guests appreciate the well-equipped space, responsive owner, and thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and welcome treats. Some minor maintenance issues and the 'upside down' layout are noted, but these do not detract from the overall positive experiences.
The property consistently receives high remarks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being very clean and well-maintained. Only one negative comment about cleanliness was noted, which seems to be an outlier.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to Dartmoor, local amenities, and ease of access to nearby towns and cities. The quiet and peaceful setting is also appreciated, contributing to a high score.
Guests find the property warm, comfortable, and homely, with comfy beds and a spacious living area. Some concerns about mattress firmness and the layout being 'upside down' slightly affect the score.
The property is well-equipped, with a special mention of the induction hob and smart TV. However, points are deducted for minor maintenance issues like a cracked shower head holder, a difficult front door lock, and the lack of a dishwasher.
Guests mention thoughtful gestures such as welcome fudge and biscuits, fresh flowers, and provision of tea and coffee. While these gifts are warmly received, it is noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.
This modern whitewashed cottage is situated in a quiet residential area, near the church in the pretty Dartmoor village of Horrabridge.
Offering upside down accommodation, this cottage has plenty of space for families and friends to gather for a holiday in the countryside, in an ideal village location from which to explore Dartmoor and the South Hams. On the first floor, the large sitting room with dining area, comfy sofas, reclining armchair and piano, makes this a cosy room for relaxing in front of the TV or listening to some light music. A small kitchen, a bathroom and double bedroom completes the accommodation on this floor. On the ground floor are two further bedrooms sharing a shower room. Outside, the enclosed gravel garden has a decked area which catches the sun, creating a peaceful place to sit whilst enjoying a barbecue or evening drink. Just a short stroll from the cottage is the village shop, and pub which is welcoming and serves excellent food. Close by is a pretty river and bridge and there is a children's playground in the adjacent park. A ten minute drive away, is the award-winning Pannier Market of Tavistock. Burrator Reservoir is close by on Dartmoor, where part of the Steven Spielberg film War Horse was filmed. This area is fabulous for walking and cycling, and located close by is Drakes Trail, which is part of the National Cycle Trail Route 27. The waterside city of Plymouth is a short drive away, with activities for rainy days including the National Marine Aquarium, The Pavilions swimming pool and ice rink, the historic Barbican, The Royal William Yard and a couple of theatres. Set amongst some of Devon's most natural unspoilt countryside, a stay in this cosy village cottage will leave you refreshed.
