Outside is a pretty cottage garden, accessed via a door and steps off the kitchen, there is outside seating, perfect for enjoying an evening drink or two with friends.

The village of Appledore has great charm with interesting art galleries, restaurants, chandlers, Post Office and several character pubs serving a good selection of food. Fresh fish may be purchased on the quay, and fishing and boat trips are easily arranged, in season. The three mile surf-washed sandy beach of Westward Ho! and the market town amenities of Bideford are each within a ten minute drive, with the historic fishing villages around Clovelly and miles of magnificent National Trust coast paths a short drive beyond. On the opposite side of the estuary the beach resort of Instow can be reached in the season by a small walk on ferry.
