Surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and magnificent scenery, the rugged beauty of Bucks Mills and Peppercombe beaches are just 8 miles away, whilst Westward Ho!, 10 miles, is popular with surfers and renowned for its beauty and 2 miles of sandy beach known as the Golden Bay. The delightful port town of Bideford, 10 miles, has a good selection of town amenities, restaurants and a weekly market. Take a boat trip to the nature reserve at Lundy Island or explore many pretty fishing villages including nearby Clovelly, Instow and Appledore.
Walkers can join the coastal path or why not cycle or walk the famous Tarka Trail? Great Torrington, known as the ’Cavalier Town’ from the Civil War of 1646, is just 7 miles and has a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants, a delightful pannier market and the highly acclaimed Plough Theatre, which is sure to be a real delight for any and all guests. There is also the Dartington Crystal Factory and a local swimming pool nearby, and for garden lovers, the RHS Gardens at Rosemoor are just a short drive. Golf, horse riding and fishing are available locally, and for family fun there is The Ultimate Adventure Centre, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Park close by. Beach 10 miles. The Stables was better than we expected. Really well furnished and presented. A little off the beaten track, but once you got used to that it was very good. Just about everything you need was in the cottage. One small point, there was no shaver socket in the bathroom, so you might need an adapter to charge your electric toothbrush if you use one. Dogs were well catered for with towels and a cover for the sofa.

A very clean and comfortable cottage with a secure private courtyard garden and a big field which although not secure is great for exercising dogs. The owners were friendly and on hand if needed and there was an excellent welcome basket. A great place if you want a peaceful break in the north Devon countryside.
