Steeped in nautical history, the picturesque village of Appledore offers much for holidaymakers to enjoy. There are plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and galleries, and a fascinating Maritime Museum. You could enjoy a river trip across to Instow with its sand dune beach, or fishing trips in Bideford Bay. You could walk the coast path to Bideford or Westward Ho!, which has two miles of sandy, surfing beach. Other attractions include Lundy Island, the Tarka Trail, The Big Sheep, The Milky Way Adventure Park, Dartington Crystal, RHS Rosemoor, and Clovelly. In the evenings, you could stroll along the quayside or eat at one of the many family pubs, cafes and restaurants or pick up locally caught fish and chips.
