Barn View is a well-received cottage in Devon, praised for its cleanliness, comfortable furnishings, and tranquil setting. Guests appreciate the property's spaciousness, secure outdoor areas for dogs, and the thoughtful touch of a welcome bottle of wine. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with the location being ideal for exploring the Devon and Cornwall coasts.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with several reviews highlighting its tidy interior and well-equipped kitchen. However, some guests have reported issues with outdoor cleanliness, such as dog waste, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to beaches and local amenities. The scenic views and quiet setting contribute to a positive experience, although the steep walk back from the beach is noted.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property spacious, contributing to a comfortable stay. Some minor critiques about bedding and seating are mentioned, but overall, the comfort level is high.

The cottage is well-equipped with essential appliances and a secure field for dogs. However, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as problems with the shower, kitchen floor, and outdoor areas, which impacts the score.

While guests have mentioned a welcome bottle of wine, as gifts are not consistently referenced across the reviews, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness based on the available information.

About this property

This detached bungalow converted from barns is situated on a country lane between Welcombe hamlet and the South West Coast Path. Half a mile from each, this is brilliant accommodation for walking or enjoying a peaceful haven. You will feel right at home in the cosy sitting room with its traditional wood burner to snuggle up beside and a dining table for leisurely meals prepared in the well equipped kitchen with its door to the patio. Peaceful nights in this tranquil spot are on the cards in the two comfortable bedrooms. The big patio has a table and chairs for alfresco meals and you are welcome to walk dogs or play football in the meadow beyond. The ancient thatched village pub is a great place for eating out and it is an enjoyable walk along a quiet road to get there – though do remember a torch if you are heading home in the dark. Walkers will be in seventh heaven with the Coast Path so close and it gives you splendid views from cliff tops and a range of birds to spot. If surfing is your game, head down to the cove beach at Welcombe Mouth to catch some good waves, or it isn't far to Bude and the huge sandy beach. Barn View is an excellent location for exploring a dramatic coastline or recharging your batteries.

A pretty country village just one mile from the high cliffs, rocky coves and golden sands of the north Devon/Cornwall coast, as well as the beach at Welcombe Mouth with its sand, rocks, and some fabulous waves to ride

The kitchen is stocked with everything needed and the beds are comfortable. Situated in a quiet area, the field immediately next to the property is very convenient. The fabulous Sandymouth beach is only a few miles away and the local pub is excellent. There is much to see in this area and we would definitely stay at Barn View again.

I was hoping it had a bbq but didn’t, also you definitely need a car as everything is quite a way. Our two dogs absolutely loved it and the large field was a fantastic extra in fact one of our dogs wouldn’t get in the car when it was time to leave and come home. Would definitely recommend if your looking for a lovely quiet holiday in great surroundings.

The field available for the dogs to exercise was a real bonus. Barn View felt very welcoming to us and the dogs, very clean and well equipped. Peaceful and well situated for the places we wanted to visit. Many thanks!
