… in Christow, a quiet lane walk of about 600 yards from a good food pub, a Grade II listed, detached cottage with early 16th cent. origins. A pretty shrub-filled garden surrounds it (patio, table/chairs) and from upstairs there are lovely long views to the Haldon Hills (walking/bicycle trails).
Inside, good antique furniture, a few low lintels, heavy beams and bags of character. Porch to dining room with tiled floor, woodburner and part of the original stone staircase and old cloam oven visible; tiled floor inclining slightly into fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge); loo and back lobby with washer-drier, plenty of room for boots/coats/dogs/bicycles and door to garden. Two steps down from hall (5’5” lintel) into living room with TV/DVD, lovely old beams (5’10”), pretty views to garden and huge inglenook (open fire). From hall, steep stairs up to three bedrooms – 2 steps down (5'10" lintel) to surprisingly large double (5’ bed, TV/DVD), another double with en suite bathroom (suite), and a twin; bathroom (suite with separate shower). Golf, 1½ miles. A lovely cottage in a beautiful spot with good walking from the doorstep.
