About this property

The Old Library is a quirky and exquisitely presented holiday home, designed and furnished to the very highest standards throughout. The two-storey accommodation has been extensively remodeled in conjunction with Cheltenham-based Focus Interior Design to offer a luxurious retreat for two couples or a young family in a central location.

The property is set at the end of Newcomen Road and within a very short, mostly level, walk of the historic naval town of Dartmouth. There are a number of award-winning restaurants, delightful boutiques, art galleries, cosy cafés and beautiful gardens within easy reach, as well as a range of lovely boat trips up and down the delightful River Dart from the nearby harbour front.

Beautifully furnished throughout, on the ground floor are two boutique double bedrooms, both imaginatively and luxuriously decorated. The master bedroom has a King-size bed, Juliet balcony, and en suite bathroom, whilst the similarly furnished second bedroom is not en suite but has an adjacent shower room.

Stairs spiral up to the open plan living accommodation, ‘The Captain’s Galley’ on the first floor. This spacious and elegant area has a nautical theme and offers a wonderful environment for relaxing or entertaining, with an elegant kitchen, delightful dining area and comfortably furnished sitting room.

An annual parking pass for one car is provided for the Mayors Avenue public car park 5-7 minutes walk away (subject to available spaces).

This fabulous property offers an exquisite holiday home in a superb Dartmouth location.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

What a great location, so close to bars and restaurants! The parking permit was a boon as there were plenty of parking spots out of season. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely dark; we slept really well. Great showers in the bathrooms. The upstairs living space was bright, spacious and good for socialising. It was a pity that the SMEG fire and wine fridge were not working; they would have added to the occasion. The abundance of family photos made us feel like we were trespassing, although maybe some people would enjoy them. Thanks for having us

Comfortable stay for 2 people if however we had been a larger party would have liked additional sofa or softer lounge seating. We would have appreciated the use of a microwave as we opted to eat in a few nights. Aware property details does not list a microwave and realise many guests probably eat out. This was our first stay in Dartmouth and your property was perfectly located for us to get to know the town. We parked the car and didn’t use again for a week. We enjoyed our stay in Dartmouth and hope to return.
