About this property

For a fun and quirky getaway on a working farm, book a break at this barn conversion. It’s great for a mixed group and their dog looking for a peaceful holiday with lots of outdoorsy adventures and relaxed sociable time, set in stunning North Devon.

This property is inverted level, so you’ll begin with the bedrooms and then walk upstairs for the communal spaces. Enter a hallway, rich with wood panelling, to see three comfortable bedrooms. There’s a king-size room, a double and a twin, all equipped with en-suites for privacy and convenience. The bath/shower rooms are gorgeously tiled, and the bedrooms contrast shades of sand with deep blue. Head upstairs for an open-plan living space featuring a kitchen, lounge and diner with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beam and a wood burner. You can watch films, play games and chat in the lounge area, then prepare food in the kitchen – and make delicious drinks with the coffee machine – then eat at the farmhouse-style table. You’ll have access to the garden from the living space, enclosed (not sure how, no pictures) and featuring a lawn, patio, seating area and a BBQ, perfect for sunny afternoons.

This property is in a remote area, and it’s perfectly located for anyone who loves outdoorsy days out. Pack your pup and a picnic, then visit the Exmoor National Park (8.5 miles), which is full of incredible wildlife, or view ancient woodland at Eggesford Forest, 11 miles. Equestrians should check out Collacott Equestrian Centre, 3 miles, for incredible hacking for all abilities, and golfers are welcome at The Mole Resort Golf Club (6 miles). Pub less than a mile away at George Nympton.

A fantastic spacious cottage, very friendly owners A warm welcome with home made cake and bread milk and bacon and more. The cottage is in a great central position to go to south molton, Barnstable westward Ho Clovelly and much more. The cottage itself it amazing top quality fixtures and fittings and a lot bigger than it looks Ideal for families or a group of friends for a holiday or short break away Highly recommend

We really enjoyed staying in the property, it was very well presented with everything we needed to have a very comfortable week away with a great space for our dog to run around in. The owners provided a fantastic welcome pack and were on hand to help whenever needed. Definitely recommend.

We had a lovely relaxing week at Higher Court and we were lucky to be the first guests to stay at the property. We found that the communication and hospitality from the owner was excellent, with some thoughtful goodies provided for us on our arrival. The information pack was comprehensive and detailed, covering the history of the building, the local area and suggestions of places to visit. The property itself was finished to a very high standard, with a well equipped kitchen, lovely bathrooms and everything you could possibly need. The property is on a working farm but this didn’t interfere in any way with our stay and we liked seeing the various animals who live there, including the roaming ducks and chickens who were of great interest to our dog as she watched them from the upstairs window! The garden was a good size and our dog enjoyed exploring and watching the visiting rabbits in the morning, and if you’re lucky enough in the evenings, you might see a bat fly over. The lanes surrounding the property are narrow however they are extremely quiet and we had no problems with traffic coming the other way so don’t be put off by this.
