About this property

… 2 miles from Parracombe, and 2½ miles from the little pebble beach at dramatic Heddon's Mouth, deep in a lush tranquil wooded valley, a 17th cent. farmhouse and two detached cottages which started life as grain and animal barns. All nestle in the shelter of mature trees and ancient hedgerows - full of wild flowers, birds and butterflies at the right time of year - and have lovely views to Trentishoe Down. There are 40 acres of pasture, streams, wild wood and moorland which you are welcome to explore. This is terrific walking country, far away from the hustle of modern urban life, and an ideal spot to enjoy its calm. Timeless green lane and woodland footpath (walking boots needed) to Hunters Inn, about 1½ miles. The farmhouse and cottages share use of a laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier and games barn (table tennis) opposite. Spring water.

The Bothy: a private, single-storey cottage with French windows overlooking its little wild garden with stream. Approached by 80 yards of sloping path, there are 4 steps up to a glazed door to a large open-plan room with high beams, wood floor (rug), comfy sofa, TV/DVD, dining table/chairs, woodburner, imposing four-poster bed (5’) and wall-hung tapestries; 2 steps up to little kitchen with combi-microwave and oven/ceramic hob, through to shower-room (suite). No children, except pre-crawling babies. A very romantic cottage.

  • Mrs Lorraine Rooker

"Sally greeted us on arrival and the wine, flowers and biccies were a nice touch. Very relaxing holiday and we were allowed our privacy with the knowledge that Sally was there if we needed her...which we did, arrived without any milk which she kindly helped out with. Thoroughly recommend The Bothy for a relaxing break."
