Woolacoombe also boasts three miles of golden sands which has been awarded a Blue Flag status, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, building sandcastles and playing ball games. Visit the seaside resort of Ilfracombe to see the historic harbour of quaint pastel-coloured houses and you can even hop on a boat to Lundy Island, a surreal granite outcrop where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel.
