About this property

This light and airy property sits in an elevated spot offering wonderful sea views over the picturesque bay of Combe Martin. The local beach and pub are just a short walk downhill, and nearby Ilfracombe offers a range of entertainment and activities for all ages. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, this well-appointed cottage is perfect for a family seaside break on the beautiful North Devon coast.

This attractive, double-fronted property enjoys an unrivalled view over the pretty inlet of Combe Martin. Inside, the décor is contemporary yet comfortable, with a superbly bright lounge area that offers fantastic sea views through the large, dual-aspect windows that allow the light to pour in. Guests can enjoy relaxing with a morning coffee or an evening drink in this wonderful space and taking in the panoramic views. The lounge offers plenty of comfortable seating, including a sofa bed which can be made up for extra guests, and a rocking chair with footstall. The adjacent kitchen is equally bright and spacious, with a dining table perfectly positioned next to the large bay window so guests can make the most of the view at mealtimes as well. Walking through to the master double bedroom, guests will discover an elegant bedroom with patio doors opening into the private rear garden, and a large en-suite bathroom with shower over bath perfect for a relaxing soak. Next door the twin bedroom is equally inviting, decorated in soft blues and yellows and with carefully chosen artwork that echoes the coastal location, and a large window that looks out onto the private rear garden. An additional family shower room offers the opportunity to freshen up after a day at the beach before heading out for the evening.

From the lounge, patio doors lead out onto a lovely decked area above a steep lawn, with a table and chairs where guests can sit in the sunshine and take in the superb view. At the rear of the property is a private, secluded garden with a small patio and lawn area, with a picnic table and barbecue – ideal for an alfresco meal after a day at the coast. Bright and comfortable, and with outstanding views, Cliffside House is a lovely holiday property for a family break in North Devon. Within walking distance of the beach and just a short drive from the amenities and attractions of Ilfracombe it has all the ingredients for the perfect English seaside holiday.Located on the north coast of Devon in the lush rolling countryside, Combe Martin is an attractive village with a natural sea inlet that forms a picturesque harbour and protected bay, just five miles from the seaside town of Ilfracombe. Edged by the spectacular Exmoor National Park to the east and the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the west, the area is home to a wealth of stunning natural scenery and golden sandy beaches. With a history of fishing and smuggling, today this peaceful part of North Devon is popular with visitors who come to explore the many quaint villages and beautiful coastline.

A short ten-minute drive will bring you to the bustling town of Ilfracombe, with its pretty natural harbour and array of shops, restaurants and cafes to explore. Head along the promenade towards the quayside, which is dominated by the Damien Hirst Sculpture ‘Verity’, before walking up to the tiny St Chapel of St Nicholas from where there are superb views over the harbour and out to sea. In the centre of town, the Ilfracombe Museum houses an eclectic collection of items from around the world, on subjects as diverse as natural history and costume. Visitors can learn how to send a message in Morse Code, find out about the town’s rich maritime history and marvel at the collections of birds, beetles and butterflies, and more.

Just outside Ilfracombe sits Chambercombe Manor, allegedly one of Britain’s most haunted houses. Dating back to the 11th-century, this historic country house draws visitors keen to experience the paranormal or just admire this atmospheric house. If a ghostly experience does not appeal, then a short 15-minute drive will bring you to elegant Arlington Court – a National Trust property that is home to a wonderful costume and textile collection – and the adjacent Carriage Museum where there are over 40 historic horse-drawn carriages on display.

A few miles off the coast of Ilfracombe is Lundy Island. Owned by the National Trust, this tiny island is three miles long and home to a stunning array of flora and fauna that will delight any wildlife enthusiast. Subject to strict conservation laws, there are no cars on the island, but a passenger ferry – the MS Oldenburg – departs daily from Ilfracombe. Watch out for dolphins on the two-hour journey before stepping ashore to explore the island and enjoy lunch in the Marisco Tavern – the island’s only pub.Ground Floor
