About this property

Riverside cottage. Character property in beautiful valley setting.

This riverside cottage in the heart of Exmoor is a hidden haven and the perfect place from which to explore the delights of the high hills and moors, steep valleys and woodlands, rivers, streams and associated wildlife of the National Park. Set on the banks of the East Lyn River in a wooded valley, Primrose Cottage is only accessible by footbridge, which adds to its hideaway charm. There's no need for a car to enjoy the impressively unspoilt countryside here. There are walks from the doorstep in every direction and excellent trout and salmon fishing available on the East Lyn (permits can be obtained locally). A charming country inn serves fine food and ale across the river. The alpine-like twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are just 4 miles away on the coast and the Victorian funicular railway joining the two is well worth a visit.  The cottage is fresh and simply decorated with many original features. The comfortable lounge has a multi-fuel stove and the good-sized kitchen/diner has slate flooring and wooded beams. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with peaceful river and garden views.  The fully-enclosed and paved patio has a garden table and chairs where guests can relax and contemplate the flowing river.

Enjoyed our stay, having the footpath running from the front door was very convenient. Directions from the pub could have been more clear. Otherwise, No complaints, very comfortable & cosy, thank you.
