Enter the shared ground floor, where you will find a handy shared utility room housing a washing machine and tumble dryer, perfect for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh! Climb the stairs up to the light filled open-plan living space, where you can look forward to impressing your other half with culinary delights, whipped up in the well-equipped kitchen and ready to be enjoyed at the dining table for two over a bottle of fizz. After dinner, retreat to the plush sofas to select a much-loved film from the wall-mounted TV, as the woodburning stove crackles nearby. Wash away the day in the stylish shower room, before wrapping yourself up in a toasty towel, courtesy of the heated towel rail. As your eyes grow heavy, climb the stairs up to the second-floor, where you will find a lovely double loft bedroom with exposed beams, Velux windows, and charming reading nook with two armchairs, ideal for when you want to unwind with your favourite book! In the morning start the day off with a steaming cup of coffee, thanks to the espresso maker as you prepare for another adventure filled day. Explore the local town, where right on your doorstep, you will find the welcoming Red Lion and the Chulmleigh Tandoor Indian Restaurant, both great options for when you fancy a night off from the kitchen! There is also a well-stocked convenience store where you can purchase fresh ingredients for a romantic meal ready to enjoy in the comfort of The Garret. The town is also home to an excellent 18-hole (par 3) golf course spanning 13-acres. Keen walkers will delight at the nearby 180-mile Tarka Trail which starts Eggesford Forest and offers idyllic woodland scenery and breath-taking moorland views along the way! Further walking opportunities can be found in the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, of which The Garret rests midway between. Make the drive over to the bustling river-port town of Barnstaple, where you can delve into history at the Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon, test out your swing at Portmore Golf Park or enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Taw. From here you can access Devon’s rugged coastline at the beautiful beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton Sands and Westward Ho! For a taste of city life, head over to Exeter, where you will find ample shopping opportunities, the historic Exeter Cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery and the picturesque Riverside Valley Park. Chulmleigh is a charming Devon village with a strong sense of community. Walking through this area of Devon is a joy because to its small cobblestone paths, rows of thatched cottages, courtyards and inviting inns. It's a year-round getaway, with gardens in the summer and snowy paths in the winter. Along a scenic route through woods and past stunning moorland, the 180-mile Tarka Trail sets out from adjacent Eggesford Forest on the banks of the River Taw. Visitors to Chulmleigh can get sight of kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders and dippers as they perch on the banks of the river. More than one million anglers flock to the area each year to take advantage of the abundance of fish in the rivers and lakes, which include salmon and sea trout as well as a wide variety of other species. In between Dartmoor and Exmoor, Chulmleigh is a convenient location for exploring north Devon's rocky coastline.
