Chulmleigh is a charming village in Devon with a true, traditional sense of community. It is enjoyable to stroll through this area of Devon, which is still largely undeveloped, with its winding cobblestone streets, rows of thatched cottages, courtyards, and friendly inns. It is a popular site all year round, offering both winter and summer treks. The 180-mile Tarka Trail begins at the close-by Eggesford Forest, which is located on the banks of the River Taw, and travels along a charming route through woods while providing breathtaking vistas of moorland. Birdwatchers will find kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders, and dippers along the peaceful riverbanks of Chulmleigh, which is particularly ideal for them. With salmon and sea trout in the rivers as well as coarse fishing on Catham Lakes and Huntacott Water, fishing is a much-liked pastime in the area. Chulmleigh is well located for access to the untamed north Devon coast and is situated halfway between the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor.

Especially love the upstairs space as it feels very cosy, clean and fresh. The bathroom too is beautiful. Can recommend the local walks round the village. The Red Lion for food, drink and friendly people. The pizza here is excellent and a must try! Would definitely stay again, thank you

Loved that there was tea, coffee and sugar etc. Plus the box of biscuits too. The high quality standard is so good, much better than we thought it would be. The folder is a great help, so much detail inside. Plus the leaflets were a great help for us to know where to go each day. The maps are brilliant too. So glad that there were fans up and downstairs, as it was so hot. It was the perfect Cottage, so that's why we have booked it again for next September.
