Barnstaple is the regional capital where you can have a taste of North Devon life by wandering the streets and river front or enjoying the weekly pannier market and many cafés and restaurants. Or why not take in a show at the Queens Theatre or enjoy a movie at the multi-screen cinema? The town also offers a leisure centre with swimming pool, a purpose-built tennis centre with indoor and outdoor courts, an indoor trampoline centre and Rock Park which is popular with locals as well as visitors alike and where the local weekly Junior and 5km Park Runs are held. The town centre is just over a mile away and the location is perfect for exploring North Devon and all its attractions such as Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village with their awe-inspiring scenery.

If stunning beaches are your thing, then North Devon will leave you spoilt for choice with Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho! Beaches - all within easy reach by car. The fantastic Southwest Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed from the town centre, providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line on foot or by bicycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery which will take you through Fremington Quay with its excellent café, Instow with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore through to Bideford and beyond.

For a day with a difference why not take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna? Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Pub within 1 mile.

Well presented cottage, clean and cofortable. Large bedroom with ensuite showeroom. Pleasant owner who met us on arrival, and gave information on surrounding area. Useful dog walk on disused railway line, which you can use to get to tesco within a few minutes.

Loved our stay here. It was just right for what we wanted. We were house hunting and this was a good base. We will definitely Italy recommend. Ideal.for two people. Lovely comfortable bed. My only suggestion would be perhaps a small extension to the working top to give more space for working whilst cooking. That would be all.
